№ 23. Healthy and unhealthy food. Past Simple: regular verbs.

The aim of the lesson:

1.Educational: to talk about healthy and unhealthy food, to study the Past Simple of the regular verbs.

2.Developing: to develop learners’ writing skills and speech habits, activate the language which students have learnt in the classroom.

3.Bringing – up: to bring up keeping healthy way of life.

The type of the lesson:

a lesson of teaching vocabulary and Grammar.

The form of the lesson:

Work in groups

The methods of working:

warm – up, conversation, work in groups, writing, listening.

Inter subject connection:

Kazakh, Russian, Biology.

The visual aids: be

Student’s book, Workbook, different cards, slides, CD-s, video

Objectives:

at the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:

• talk about healthy and unhealthy food;

• use thematically vocabulary in oral speech.

• develop their speaking and listening skills

• use the Past Simple of the regular verbs in their speech.

Tasks:

Reading the text. (Sb p61 ex4)

Wb Ex 4 p63:

There was a house in the trees.

There was a horse near the door.

There was a lamp by the window.

There was a coat on the floor.

There were two gloves on the table.

There was a black hat in the hall.

There were three small keys in a silver cup.

There was a silent clock on the wall.

There was a picture in my memory.

There was a happy, smiling face.

But there were empty chairs in every room.

And there were strange red lights in space.

They read the text.

They read the home exercises.

Playing a game:

What's the English for банан, сүт, су, бутерброд, кола, ірімшік, ет, чипсы, салат, көкөніс, жеміс-жидек, тост, тауық еті, шошқа еті, сосиска, and etc.

They revise the vocabulary.

Work in pairs. Introducing the topic:

Ask the pair with the most items on their list to write their items on the board. Ask the class which foods are healthy and which are unhealthy. Can they explain why?

In pairs students write as many ‘food’ words as possible in 2 minutes in their notebooks.

Phonetic drill:

a)listening to the rhythm drill;

b)joining it;

They listen and join the rhythm drill.

Work with the text:

a)listening to the text;

b)answer the question;

c)matching the photos with captions.

They listen to the text, answer the question and match.

Grammar:

The Past Simple ( affirmative):

a)studying the grammar Reference 6a

I, he, she, it worked (+)

We, you they worked (+)

b)forming the Past Simple of regular verbs 6e

c)finding more verbs in the past simple

(Ex3.p119 Sb)

d)doing Ex4, p119 Sb

1.wanted, 2.loved, 3.lived, 4.travelled, 5.worked, 6.studied

They study the grammar and do exercises.

Homework:

To read the text, to learn the words, Ex1 p64 Wb

They write in their diaries.

Evaluation:

“Sun, Cloud and Rain.”

They stick their stickers concerning the pictures.
