1. Look at the list of expressions. Which of them is the most formal? Which one is the least formal?














2. Read the expressions. Which of them are positive responses, responses indicating interest,

negative responses?

3. Work in groups. Invite your group mates to your activity. Use the expressions from Ex. 1 and 2.


A: You are a party-goer, and have decided to hold a music party in your house on Saturday

at 4 p.m. You want to invite your classmates to come to your party. Don’t forget you have your English lesson on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at “Selfree, you have been invited to play tennis on Tuesday.

5. a) Work in pairs. You have been asked to write a review of one of the films in ex. 4 for a school magazine. Answer these questions about the film you have chosen.


  1. What is the title of the film?

  2. Who is it directed by? (if you know)

  3. Who plays the leading parts?

  4. How do they play their roles? (wonderfully, badly)

  5. What type of film is it? (a horror film, a comedy, a musical, an action film, a romantic film, fantasy)

  6. What is it about? ( an adventure, a love story, a school life, a person, etc)

  7. Where does it take place? (England, the USA, an island, a school etc.)

  8. Does the story take place in the past, present or future?

  9. How do the main characters behave? (seriously, happily, sadly, noisily, proudly, politely, cheerfully, dangerously, patiently, terribly, etc.)

  10. What happens?

  11. How would you describe it? (exciting, amusing, touching, sad, clever, boring, realistic, unrealistic)

  12. Did you enjoy it? What did you especially like or dislike about the film? (the acting, the story, the ending)

  13. Would you recommend it to other people to see?


b) Write a movie review for your school magazine. Try to think of an interesting way to start

your review. Use the ideas below.
