(Дети делятся своими впечатлениями, рассказывают, кто какой фильм или мультфильм смотрел)

T: Are you ready to answer my question? What do all of these short pieces have in common?

Pps: All of them are based on famous stories written by R. Dahl.

T: Very well! Do you know anything about the author? Several of your friends have prepared some facts from his biography.

(Ученики рассказывают краткие сведения о жизни и творчестве Р.Дала. Рассказ сопровождается показом презентации)

P1: Born in Llandaff, Wales, on the 13th September 1916 to Norwegian parents, Harald Dahl and Sofie Magdalene Hesselberg, Dahl was named after Roald Amundsen, the Norwegian who had been the first man to reach the South Pole just four years earlier. A heroic start in life. But his early years were darkened by the tragic deaths of his older sister, Astri, and his father.

P2: Wanting the best for her only son, his mother sent him to boarding school - first to St Peter's, Weston-super-Mare; then, in 1929, to Repton - where many extraordinary and memorable events would later be recounted in Boy. Pupils at Repton were invited to test chocolate bars, a memory that stayed with Dahl throughout his life, inspiring Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

P3: After finishing school, Dahl’s desire for travel took him first to Canada, then to East Africa, where he worked for an oil company until the beginning of the Second World War. He joined the Royal Air Force at 23 years old. In September 1940, Dahl received severe injuries to his head, nose, and back when his Gladiator crash-landed in the Western Desert. After six months recovering from his injuries in Alexandria, he returned to action, taking part in The Battle of Athens.

P4: In 1953 Roald Dahl married the American actress, Patricia Neal, with whom he had five children. In 1960 Roald helped to invent the Wade-Dahl-Till valve, prompted by the need to relieve the head injuries suffered by his son after an accident in New York.

P1: There followed a burst of literary energy: in 1961 James and the Giant Peach was published in the US, followed by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Roald then wrote screenplays for the James Bond hit You Only Live Twice and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as well as adult novels. Fantastic Mr. Fox was published in 1970, the year before the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released. The rest of the decade saw the publication of many other classics, including Danny the Champion of the World, The Enormous Crocodile, and My Uncle Oswald.

P2: Roald also enjoyed enormous success on television. Having already had his stories told in six episodes of the award-winning US series Alfred Hitchcock Presents, his Tales of the Unexpected ran for several series between 1979 and 1988 in the UK.

P3: In 1983 he and his wife Patricia got divorced but Dahl remarried soon after. His second wife was Felicity “Liccy” Crosland and the last years of his life were very happy. He wrote some of his best books during this period.

P4: In the early 1980s, he published The Twits, Revolting Rhymes, The BFG and The Witches. There followed two autobiographical books: Boy, in 1984 and Going Solo, in 1986. Matilda was published in 1988, Esio Trot in 1990, and finally, in 1991, nearly a year after his death came The Minpins.

P1: Roald Dahl died on 23 November 1990, aged 74. He was buried in the parish church of St Peter and St Paul in Great Missenden - the Buckinghamshire village where today The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre continues his extraordinary mission to amaze, thrill and inspire generations of children and their parents.

T: Today I'll take you on a virtual excursion to The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. Are you ready? Let's start! One, two, three and here we are! We are near the Roald Dahl Museum, situated in Great Missenden, the Buckinghamshire village where Roald Dahl lived and wrote for 36 years.

(С помощью сайта http://www.roalddahl.com/museum/visit/virtual-museum-tour дети участвуют в виртуальной экскурсии. Просмотр сопровождается рассказом учителя)

T: After Roald Dahl’s death, his second wife Liccy decided to find a home for his amazingly complete collection of manuscripts, photographs, ‘Ideas Books’ and letters (including all the letters he sent home to his mother from boarding school from the age of nine). In 1996 she found a building but it took her 9 years to turn her vision into reality. The Museum finally opened to the public on the 10th of June 2005. Now you can see the shadowy figure of Big Friendly Giant on the High Street wall outside.

The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre has three fun and fact-packed galleries. Throughout the Museum you will find a mix of objects and archive material to look at, things to watch and to listen to, as well as interactive activities to help you learn more about his stories.

Now we are in the hall. Here the visitors can buy tickets and souvenirs.

Here you can see Boy gallery, which looks at Roald Dahl's school days. In this section, we can find out about Roald Dahl's childhood, his love of chocolate and his schoolboy practical jokes. We can explore the archive on a touch-screen, look through Roald Dahl's family photos, find the mouse in the sweet jar and smell the giant chocolate doors.

The next gallery is called Solo. The gallery helps us to find out how Roald Dahl's real-life adventures which started with his journey to Africa led him to become a writer, working from a small hut in Great Missenden. Here we can experience the unique atmosphere of Roald Dahl's original Writing Hut and wonder at his collection of unusual souvenirs. There are secrets and surprises in peep-holes and drawers, a Gladiator cockpit where you can find out about Roald Dahl's RAF experiences and a Sparkometer which will test your ability to sparkle.

Now we are inside the Writing Hut, which is one of the highlights of the Museum. It was very carefully conserved and moved from his garden into a new gallery in 2012. Here you can see his favourite armchair and all the extraordinary and fascinating objects he kept at hand for inspiration.

The third gallery is called the Story Centre. This is the Museum's creative laboratory where the displays will inspire your own writing and story-making. Children can listen to top tips from their favourite authors, make a stop-frame animation, sit in a replica of Roald Dahl's writing chair, create a character or an unusual word or take part in drop-in crafts, colouring, and lots of creative activities at George's Crafty Kitchen.

And of course, children can visit the Café at the Roald Dahl Museum!A visit isn't complete without a sweet treat.

This is the end of our excursion. I hope, you've enjoyed it.
