  • It is big and fast. It lives in Asia. It is a good hunter . It can sleep during the day and hunt at night like a cat. It can run, jump, climb and swim. The king of the animals ( a lion)

  • It’ s the biggest animal in the oceans and the seas. It has a big mouth and a big tail ( a whale)

  • It has got 5 fingers and 5 toes, just like people. It lives in the jungle. It likes to jump and eat bananas (A monkey)

  • It looks like a horse. It has black and white stripes. (a zebra)

  • This animal can be black, grey, white or red. It lives in the house. It can catch a grey mouse. (A cat)

  • The king of the birds ( an eagle)

  • It is a large animal. Wild animals live in African and Indian jungles. It has a long nose (trunk), big ears . It is intelligent and can help people (An elephant)

  • It lives in all oceans of the planet. It can swim very fast and jump out of the water. They can play and make sounds. Sometimes they can save people' s lives. ( a dolphin

  • It lives in Australia. It carries its baby in the porch. It can jump over 26 feet. (A kangaroo)

  • This animal lives in the north, it's big and strong. It likes fish. But his relative likes honey. (A white bear)

  • This animal is the tallest one. It has a long neck and a short tail. (A giraffe)

Now you will have a mini-research work. Read the text and fill in the information into the charts.

Polar bears live in the Arctic, near the North Pole. Today, there are about 20,000 polar bears all over the world. The length (длина) of its body is about 3metres. Its weight is about 1 ton. The polar bear is the largest bear on earth. They live for 25-30 years.

Mostly, polar bears spend their time out at sea and they are very good swimmers as well as being good runners. In 1998, a polar bear was the symbol of the Olympic Games in Canada. Polar bears hunt seals (тюлени), fish and sea birds. In the summer, they like eating berries.

Although polar bears look nice and funny, they are dangerous and aggressive.

Global warming is very harmful for polar bears. It melts (топит) the ice in the Arctic very quickly and the polar bear is losing its home. Besides, people kill polar bears for their meat and fur. The WWF has announced 27 February to be the International Day of the Polar Bear.

  • Build new shelters for homeless animals

  • You must not kill or hunt animals.

  • You should feed animals in winter.

  • If your animal is ill you should take care of it.


Homework.

Homework is for you. You should make an album “ Animals in Our Life”. This is your project work. This group will prepare a speech about “ Interesting Facts about Animals”, “Our Pets”, “Endangered Animals”, You may decorate your pages with poems, quotations, diagrams , photos and pictures.

Let' s make up cinquain about animals. Do you remember what is it? It is a kind of poem consisting of 5 lines (a general word. two adjectives on the topic, three verbs, the main idea of your “poem” (it must consist of 3–4 words) and a synonym of the general word. Make up as many cinquains as you can. All your cinquains will be different. Read them aloud when you are ready.
