The First Scene
Once upon the time, there lived a noble and very rich Bator Khaan. He used to win the enemies and protected weak and old people and small children when he was young and daring. He succeeds in his own business and built his own empire. And now he decided to make the best for his only darling son.
Bator Khaan: “My son’s got a kind heart but a short mind. When I leave this world and go to the heavens, how will he rule the empire?
I should find a clever and skillful wife for him. She will help to my son to choose the right way or to prevent him doing something wrong.
And where can I find such a wife?”
So, Bator Khaan sent his loyal ambassadors-tushemils through all over the empire to look for the cleverest and the smartest girl for Khaan’s son. The ambassadors started their way on the girl’s search. They have been going around all the villages for many days and nights but everything was for nothing.
They met many beautiful and smart girls, but the one that BatorKhaan wished they couldn’t find. However, one day…
The 1st tushemil: Tproo-o-o! What a poor yurta! There is no horse, as well as no horse standing here.
Golden Scissors - Maiden: Good morning, dear guests, you’re welcome to our modest yurta! Why are you going around? Why don’t you come in? What are you looking for?
The 2nd tushemil: We’re glad to come in, but there aren’t any place to tie our horses.
Golden Scissors -Maiden: Ha-ha-ha, can’t you really see the horse standing? Here is the winter and here’s the summer! Please tie your horses to them.
The 1st tushemil: What a silly girl lives here!
The 2nd tushemil: Let’s go away. Well, next time…
The Second Scene
Khaan meets the ambassadors: Well, my loyal tushemils, where have you been to? Which girls have you seen? Have you found the smartest one for my son? Have you entered every yurta?
Khaan’s son Galsan: Well, have you found the smartest and the most beautiful girl for ME?
The1st tushemil: We’ve been to many villages, entered every yurta, even poor ones.
The 2nd tushemil: In the last yurta there weren’t even any horse standing or a tree to tie our horses.
The1st tushemil: And one silly girl told us to tie our horses to the winter or to the summer.
The1st tushemil: There were no sense in her words that’s why we stopped talking to her and went home.
Bator Khaan: And was there any sledge and a waggon near that house?
The tushemils: How do you know? There was really a broken sledge and a waggon next to that torn house.
Bator Khaan: Here’s the winter and the summer. Though you’re Khaan’s ambassadors, you haven’t understood the clever answer. Show me the road to that house, I’ll go and have a talk to that smart girl.
The third scene
Golden scissors-Maiden: I hear many guests are coming, Hello, you’re welcome!
Bator Khaan: Hello, we’ve heard the news you’ve got the incredibly clever girl. What’s her name? Whose daughter is she? I wonder.
Golden-scissors- Maiden: I’m Golden-Scissors- Maiden
Bator Khaan: It’s a very unusual name! Why are you called so?
Golden-Scissors -Maiden: I have got some special abilities, for example, I can solve the hardest tricks and wisdoms like cut the threads with scissors.
Bator Khaan: As you’re so clever, hatch chickens from thirteen eggs for me!
Golden Scissors Maiden: OK, but you should feed the chickens. Take the porridge and sow it. While the chickens will hatch out the eggs, you should grow millet from the porridge then thresh it to make a fodder for the chicken.
Bator Khaan: Well, I see. Let me ask your daughter to marry my son.
The Father: But she’s our only daughter!
The Mother: We’re very old, so we can’t do without her.
Bator Khaan: You’ll move to a new house just near our family.
The Father: We should ask our daughter- everything will be OK if she agrees.
Golden-Scissors-Maiden: Well, I agree to marry your son.
