Цель урока: развитие речевых умений учащихся.

Задачи:

Познавательный аспект:

• способствовать расширению общего кругозора школьников в области кинематографии англоязычных стран и России;

• ознакомить учащихся с историей возникновения американского и российского кинематографа;

• ознакомить учащихся с результатами творческой деятельности одноклассников;

• стимулировать деятельность учащихся путём обращения к дополнительным источникам информации, включая ресурсы Интернета.

Учебный аспект:

• формирование лексических навыков говорения школьников;

• развитие умения аудировать с целью извлечения конкретной информации;

• систематизировать лексико - грамматический материал по теме: «What helps you to enjoy yourself?»

Развивающий аспект:

• развивать у школьников способности к наблюдению, анализу, сравнению и обобщению;

• развивать творческие способности и коммуникабельность;

• развивать положительные эмоции и чувства школьников;

• формировать потребность и способность осуществлять продуктивные речевые действия.

Воспитательный аспект:

• воспитание потребности к творчеству;

• воспитанию толерантного отношению к чужому мнению, чужой культуре, более глубокому осознанию своей культуры;

The course of the lesson:

1. Greeting.

T:Good morning dear friends. I am glad to see you and our guests at the lesson. Let`s begin our lesson. Today we shall have a lesson according to our topic “A magic land of cinema”. (слайд1)

The motto of the lesson: film is silver-book is gold. (слайд2)

T: what do you think, what shall we talk about today?

T: Well, can you imagine our life without cinema?

Children: No, we can`t.

1. Speaking:

T: We are going to speak about the development of cinematography. The 20^th century may be called the century of film making. Cinema and TV films have become an important part of our life. Do you know how cinematography appeared?

P1: Although the greatest cinema empire is Hollywood, the inventors of the cinema were the French, not Americans. The Lumiere brothers invented the first film projector and motion- picture camera in 1895. That year on the 28th of December they demonstrated the first three-minute film Arrival of the Train. In that film, a train came towards the camera. People ran out of the cinema, thinking it was a real train. (слайды 5-7)

What can you tell us about the history of cinematography in Russia?

P2: The spreading of cinematography in Russia started with the demonstration of the Lumiere brother’s film in May 1896 in St’ Petersburg and in Moscow. A. Khanzhonkov founded the first studio in our country, it was Yalta film studio.The most popular genres of Russian films were historic films and screen versions of famous novels “The Quiet Don” for example. The first sound films simultaneously appeared in three countries, the USSR, The USA and Germany. Great attention was paid to films for children. The most famous directors were A. Rou and R. Bykov. P3: What do you know about history of Hollywood?

P4: Hollywood-area of Los Angeles is traditionally associated with the American film industry, because in this area there are a lot of studios… (слайды 12-14)

P5: Thank you. It was very interesting. And what cinema empires were there in Russia?

P6: Mosfilm is one of the largest production companies in Russia and Europe. Film company was established in November 1920. Its present name it received in 1935.
The emblem of the "Mosfilm" is the sculpture "Worker and Collective Farm Woman" by sculptor Vera Mukhina. The sculpture was first introduced as a screen mark "Mosfilm" in 1947, the film "Spring," directed by Grigori Aleksandrov.
History Lenfilm studio begins in 1908, when on Kamennoostrovsky Avenue engineer Vladislav Karpinsky founded one of the first film studios in St. Petersburg. Film studio filmed chronicle.
Belarusfilm - Belarusian studio was founded in December 1924.
Film studio Dovzhenko - State Soviet and Ukrainian film studio (since 1991), located in Kiev.
The history begins in the studio in 1915. It was a wooden pavilion at Butyrskaya street where the film was shot. Kievnauchfilm is one of Europe's largest specialized studio of documentary films.It is one of the oldest film studios. It begins its story in 1907. (слайды 15-18)

P7:Can you tell about actors and actresses stared in silent films?

P8: Charlie Chaplin (Charles Spencer) is an English Film actor and director. He made his reputation as a tramp with a small black moustache, bowler hat, and twirling cane in silent comedies from the middle-1910s, including “The Rink”(1916), “The Kid”(1920), “The Gold Rush”(1925). Mary Pickford (1893-1979) is the stage name of Gladys Mary Smith. She was a Canadian-born actress. The first star of silent films, she was known as “America’s Sweetheart”, and played the roles of innocent girls into her thirties. (слайды 19-20)

P9: Thanks. It`s great. But I’d like to know if you have found some information about Russian stars of silent films.

P10: Russian actors of silent films were V.Polonsky and V. Kholodnaya. When you look at their portraits you see how beautiful they are. V. Polonsky was so handsome that he always played roles of heroes-lovers. A. Khanzhonkov invited him to star in his film “Natasha Rostova” in the part of Andrey Bolkonsky in 1915. He starred together with V. Kholodnaya. (слайды 21-22)

P11: How wonderful! What can you tell us about the first colour film in Hollywood?

P12: And at last in 1939 the first colour film was shot in Hollywood. It was “Gone with the Wind”. I’m sure you’ve seen the film.The producer of the film was Victor Flemming. It’s a historical film and a melodrama. I’ve seen it with great interest. It is a great success all over the world. Great scenes of the War between the North and the South, landscapes make an unforgettable impression on the spectators. The main characters Scarlet O’ Khara and Rhett Butler were starred by V. Leigh and Clark Gable. This is a story not only about the war but also about two loving people and fighters at the same time. The picture got 8 Oscars. (слайд 23)

P13: Of course, I have seen this film several times. We`d like to know about the first colour film in Russia.

P14: In 1925 in a black-and-white picture the flag in a full-length film ' the Battleship Potyomkin’ was painted by hand. In the USSR the first a full-length color film was shot in 1936. The first feature film “Ivan Nikulin, the Russian sailor” because of the war was left only in 1944. The first color film was the film about Victory Parade in 1945. (слайд 24)

P15: I`d like to tell you about Oscar. The first awards were presented on May 16, 1929, at a private brunch at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with an audience of about 270 people.The statuette is 34 cм. It is not very big, but beautiful. During World War II, Oscar statuettes were made of plaster. Every year Oscar is given to the best film, actor or actress, producer, screenwriter, to the best song and music from the film. Oscar is given in 20 nominations. It is a very beautiful ceremony in Hollywood. In 2002, the Kodak Theatre became the home of the award ceremonies. And I prepared 5 top Oscar winners: «Titanic», «Ben-Gur», «The Lord of the rings», «Gone with the wind», «My fairy lady».(слайды 25-27)

P16: Thanks a lot. What film awards are there in Russia?

P17: Russian films were awarded by Oscar too. The first Oscar was given to the documentary film by VitaliSuslenkov in 1942.

Sergei Bondarchuk got Oscar in 1968 for the film “War and peace”.

Then in 1975 was the film shot in corporation with Japanese director Akira Kurosava “DersuUzala”.

Vladimir Menshov - 1980 the film “Moscow doesn’t believe tears”

Nikita Mikhalkov. In 1994 his picture “Burn by the Sun” was awarded by Oscar too.

And at last in 2000 it was our cartoon “The old man and the sea” that won this award.

There is a special award for actors, actresses, directors in Russia. Moscow International Film Festivals is one of the oldest festivals in the world. It was first held in 1934.The film “Chapaev” opened it. Since 1959 the festival was held once in two years. And only in 1995 it becomes an annual event in the world of Russian cinematography. The prize of the festival is Gold St.George. The president of the festival is N. Mikhalkov. (слайды 28-30)

T: Thank you, children. You know, there are a lot of film genres in the world.Look at the screen, listen and guess what genres these films can be referred. Why do you think so?

P1: actions are stuffed with shootings and killings.

P2: cartoons make us laugh and relax at the same time.

P3: westerns are full of cowboys and shootings.

P4: comedies are films where people find themselves in funny situations and we laugh a lot.

P5: Melodramas have a wonderful romantic story .They make me often cry. They are very popular among women and housewives.

P6: Thrillers are stuffed with fighting, shooting. A plot is mysterious. (слайды 31-42)

T: Before our lesson we were given the task to interview teachers and students. We asked them questions about their favourite genres of films. The results you can see on the slide. Please, look at this diagram. Let’s compare our tastes. (слайд 43)

P1: We can see that tastes differ. Our teachers like documentaries and melodramas very much and don’t like horror films. Both teachers and students like comedies.

T: Thank you for the information. And now it’s high time for us to continue our work. Cinema combines different arts. That’s why people of different professions are involved in film making. On your desks you have some sheets of paper. Your task is to find the names of the professions

The Russian film industry has long been progressing at a steady rate and while subject or film quality may not always be the same as that B4_______(produce) in the United States or the United Kingdom, films produced here have always B5________ (enjoy) a high level of quality and a uniquely Russian feel.
