E.T.The first project group “Cities of Great Britain”.
P1. Welcome to Britain! The official name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. And it is not casual, because it consists of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each of them is the state in the state. As each of them has own language, traditions and capital-city. And today we shall travel on these capital-cities. So, let’s start with London.

(проекти в Power Point діти підготували до кожного міста )
London is the capital of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is situated on the river Thames. London is the residence of British sovereign. It is the place where East meets West in Greenwich meridian. London has many interesting places to visit. It is a very big and important political, industrial, scientific and cultural centre of the country. It consists of four main parts: the City and Westminster, the West End and the East End.
The City is small in area, but it is the business centre of London. Many banks and offices are situated there. The heart of City is the Stock Exchange.
Westminster is the most important part of the capital. It is the administrative centre. The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace are there.
To the west of Westminster is the West End. Here we find most of the big shops, hotels, museums, art galleries, theatres and concert halls. Piccadilly Circus is the heart of London’s West End.
To the east of Westminster is the East End, an industrial district of the capital. There are no parks or gardens in the East End and you can’t see many fine houses there. Most of the plants and factories are situated there.
E.T. Go straight to Cardiff.
P2. Cardiff is the capital and the biggest port of Wales. It has extensive docks and is beautifully planned, the industrial side being set well apart from the administrative centre containing the City Hall, Law Courts, National Museum and Welsh Folk Museum, and of course Norman Castle. Since mid-1940 Cardiff has grown as administrative and commercial centre of Wales. A large park area lies near the centre of Cardiff. There are many fashionable shops and modern hotels and the Cardiff Castle near by the Cathay’s Park.
E.T. O’K let’s go to Edinburgh
P3. Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It lies on seven hills and goes down those hills to the sea. From the street in the centre of the city you can see ships coming to Edinburgh from different countries of the world. The streets of the “Old Town” still narrow. The tall houses go up the hills to Edinburgh Castle which is 1000 years old. The modern town “The New Town” lies at the foot of the hills and has all usual characteristics of a well planned modern city. Edinburgh is not a great manufacturing city but it is large intellectual centre. It has one of the oldest university in Europe, which was founded in 1582. Many great men (Robert Burns, Walter Scott, and Robert Louis Stevenson) have lived and worked in Edinburgh.
E.T. And the last but not the least of our tour around Great Britain is Belfast.
P4. Belfast is the capital and a chief port of Northern Ireland. It is a modern city situated in a district of mountains and rivers. Belfast Castle was built in 1870. City Hall is marked by a copper of dome and sculptured pediment. Inside is a fresco depicting the city’s history. University of Belfast was founded in 1908.

1.One thing which distinguishes today’s beat from earlier pop music is the present emphasis on group playing. The British beat music was first heard in the gloomy streets of Liverpool inhabited by dockers. The Beatles were only one of the groups playing in Liverpool at the time they began to make reputation, but soon they became the most popular. The group included Paul Mc Cartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They performed music influenced by American rock’n’roll and rhythm – and – blues. Among their most popular songs were “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Hey, Jude” and “Yesterday“. In spite of their population the Beatles broke up in 1971. Their songs are still popular nowadays.

P2: British glam- rock group 1971-91 credited with making the first successful pop video, for their hit Bohemian Rhapsody 1975. The operatic flamboyance of lead singer Freddie Mercury was the cornerstone of their popularity. Among their other hits are We Will Rock You and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
E.T. As we can see there are different styles of music and we have different opinions of them. But nevertheless music is a great part of our life.

In allen Wipfeln
Spürest du
Kaum einen Hauch,
Die Vögelein schweigen im Walde.
Warte nur, balde
Ruhest du auch.
1807 heiratete er Christiane Vulpius. Am 22,März 1832 starb er in Wien.
S
E.T. You see that either music or literature has a substantial influence on the life of every nation.

.1 One of the most famous modern English writers is. She wrote one of the best books for children about “Harry Porter”. J.K.Rowling was born in Chipping Sudbury near Bristol, England. After she graduated from Exeter University, she spent time teaching English in Portugal before moving to Edinburgh, Scotland. She currently resides in Scotland with her husband and three children. Rowling first thought of Harry while riding a train back in 1990. She worked on the book for several years. And in 1998, the first book about Harry Potter was published in the United States. Her books have been translated into 61 languages and distributed in over 200 countries. All five books have appeared on bestseller lists in the United States, Britain, and around the globe. Joanne Rowling has won many awards and prizes.
P.2: Among these seven books the first is my favourite one “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. It’s a fantasy story set in Hogwarts School, England. It’s the story of a boy called Harry Potter who became an orphan very early. He goes through wonderful adventures together with his friends.
P.3: Harry Potter is a story about relationships between people, and what they mean in our lives as much as those of the characters. It’s a story about hope. The book teaches us to respect our teachers and elders and respect everyone. The Harry Potter books are all different. They have the power to help kids navigate the trials of growing up. This book is a remarkable display of the power of literature.
P
.4: Robert Burns was born in 1759 in Ayre, and was the eldest of the seven children in a family. He had little regular schooling, and got much of his education from his father. Robert had a very difficult life. By the age of fifteen Robert Burns was the main helper to his father on a farm. That was the time when he started writing his poems. He had a chance to study only when the harvesting season was over. Robert Burns is regarded as a pioneer of the Romantic Movement in literature. As well as making original compositions, Burns also collected folk songs from across Scotland. He often revised or adopted them. His poems and songs are well-known across the world today. They are Auld Lang Syne, A Red, Red Rose, A Man’s A Man for A’ That and of course My Heart’s in the Highlands.
My heart’s in the Highlands, my heart is not here,
My heart’s in the Highlands a-chasing the deer,
A-chasing the wild deer and following the roe —
My heart’s in the Highlands, wherever I go!
E.T. The pupils of our English group prepare a little play for you to understand why we have to learn foreign languages.
Two Germans were travelling in Spain. One morning they came into a little restaurant for lunch. They knew neither Spanish nor English. And the waiter did not know German. They were going to tell him that they wanted some milk and sandwiches. At first they pronounced the word “milk” several times. Then they spelled it. But the waiter could not understand them. At last one of them took a piece of paper and began to draw a cow. He was finishing his drawing, when the waiter looked at it and ran out of the restaurant.
“Siehst du,” said one of the travelers. “Was kann der Bleistift machen, wenn du die Fremdsprache weißt nicht?”
The waiter was back again some time after, but he brought no milk. He put down in front of the two men two tickets for a bull-fight.
G.T: Jetzt singen wir ein Lied Ich bin Ausländer. Das ist ein Amerikanisches Volkslied.
Ich bin Ausländer
Ich bin Ausländer
Und spreche nicht gut Deutsch.
bitte
Sprechen Sie doch langsam
Ich versteh’ nicht,
was Sie sagen
I am a foreigner
And I don’t speak German
Well. Please
Do speak slowly
I understand
I don’t understand
What you are saying
