Education system in Japaneese schools

Kindergarten is optional and usually starts at age 3 to 5. Kindergartens usually take charge of children for four hours or the length of a typical working day, hoikuen often include some educational elements like reading and math.
The Japanese school year starts in April.
And ends in March. The cherry blossoms blooms in April and they represent a fresh start.
In Japan children go to elementary school at the age of 6. It lasts six years. The elementary curriculum emphasizes both intellectual and moral development. All students must take certain compulsory subjects, like Japanese language, mathematics, science, social studies, music, crafts, home economics, living environment studies, and physical education. English has been mandatory starting in third grade.

A typical Japanese elementary school class has around 30 to 40 students.
Public schools in Japan have classes five days a week, from Monday to Friday. There are also schools that have classes on Saturday. After classes, students clean the classrooms in shifts and then start their club activities.
Summer vacation is about 40 days long. It generally goes from about July 20th to August 31st.
Most schools have strict rules about hair color. Only a student's natural hair color is acceptable.
Many private schools have rules saying that students must wear their uniform at all times, on or off campus.
A student in uniform is a representative of the school, no "trouble-making" is tolerated. Within school hours or not, on campus or off, if a student is wearing the uniform they will be considered "in school."
Students study subjects such as social studies, Japanese, math, science/technology history, healthy living, computer science, music, art , physical education, and home economics
Every day students have "Daily Chores" they do, including cleaning the classrooms, halls, and yards of their schools.
All Universities, most high schools, and some middle schools require entrance exams. Some schools, particularly private schools, have an "elevator system" in which students can move up without taking exams.
