Try to explain their meaning in your own words (своими словами) like this: clank (of metal) – a sharp loud sound that metal things make when they strike one another, stroke (strike) a match – made a fast movement by the match rubbing it against a match box to light it etc. If you fail to do so, consult the WL part of your Student’s book for Unit 2 (Extensive Reading) to find out (чтобы узнать). Then write these words to you vocabulary .
