And as we are discovering Mexico today I want to tell you what I associate Mexico with, to tell you about my images of Mexico. First of all, it is a sombrero. It is a special hat that prevents men from heat and sun. Then a poncho comes. It is a special colourful woolen blanket with a hole to protect people from cold and rain. Then, of course, it is the song la Cucaracha. Cucaracha means a cockroach. And I always remember Salma Hayek, a famous American movie star, that was born in Mexico.

У каждой страны свои символы, у Мексики национальный флаг представлен 3 вертикальными полосами. Первая – зеленая (надежда), вторая – белая (чистота), третья – красная (кровь мексиканского народа). По легенде, ацтекам была предсказана Земля, где они смогут жить. Для этого они должны были найти орла, сидящего на кактусе, и пожирающего змею. В XIV веке они нашли такого орла и поселились в Мексике. Этот орел изображен на флаге.

Мексика – страна гор. Имеются вулканы. Самый высокий вулкан Орисаба. Северная часть страны – пустыни. На морских побережьях богатая тропическая растительность, климат здесь жаркий и влажный.

Численность населения 112 млн. человек Мексика богата нефтью и газом, серебром, золотом. Мексика была сельскохозяйственной страной в ней одной из первых стали выращивать помидоры, кукурузу, перец, бобы.

В современной Мексике преобладает производство автомобилей и электронной техники, производство тканей и обуви, В Мексике есть племя бегунов Индейцы. Они прославились как лучшие бегуны в мире. 

Мексиканцы  любят свой национальный инструмент — гитару и умеют играть на гитаре. Чихуахуа, самая маленькая собака в мире, названа в честь мексиканского штата.

Мексика – родина шоколада. Бедные люди живут в трущобах. Они располагаются в старых районах города. Это ветхие здания. Мексика – родина кактусов.(cactus)

- St1: Mexico is visited by thousands of tourists.. I’d like to visit it, too.

- St2: There are a lot of interesting places in Mexico. So it’s worth to visit.

I’d like you to write a Cinquain poem now. Let’s review the plan of writing cinquain. The first line is one word which is the title of the poem. The second line contains two adjectives. The third line has three verbs. The fourth line has a phrase. The fifth line is one word that is a synonym of the title.

Writing

St Petersburg is a beautiful city on the Baltic Sea, in the west of Russia. The population of St Petersburg is 4.7 million. It is a very big city and there are lots of things to do there. There are over 140 museums to visit in St Petersburg. There are also many theatres and cafes to go to in the evenings. The people of St Petersburg are very friendly and like to have fun and enjoy themselves, so there are many festivals during the summer. However, the winter can be very long and cold. In the winter people go skating on frozen lakes. Sometimes the traffic can be difficult too. All in all though, St Petersburg is a great place to live.
