I. Introducing the topic of the lesson

If a person knows and follows the rules of etiquette [‘etɪket] he could be either a high-moral person or an ill-bred one, but if he has good manners and knows how to behave in different situations he has more chances to be a polite, well-bred person with high moral qualities. That’s why we’re going to speak about the etiquette and it will be one of our steps in becoming a moral person.

You know that we were invited to the Local State School and we’re going to spend some days in England. And we should know how to behave ourselves in order not to get in awkward situation.

Look at the picture. Do you know this woman? Who is she?

Mary Poppins will teach us some rules.

Ss answer the questions

II. PHONETIC EXERCISE

She has got an interesting task for you. Match English and Russian proverbs. (Work in pairs) Read the proverb and translation

KEY

Actions speak louder than words.

Не по словам судят, а по делам

East or West, home is best.

В гостях хорошо, а дома лучше

After dinner sit a while, after supper walk a mile.

После обеда посиди (поспи) немного, после ужина с милю пройдись

Breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dine like a pauper (бедняк).

Завтрак съешь сам, обедом поделись с другом, а ужин отдай врагу
