Chapter I
On 17th of March of 2016 many people were waiting in a queue in front of the Olympia exhibition centre (London) to see an expensive international jewellery exhibition. It was the first day of the exhibition and among the many people in the queue, there was a group of people who wanted to steal some of the jewellery – the DIY members. To find how to enter the exhibition, they pretended to be genuine tourists on a guided tour. They appeared to be very polite because they allowed other tourists to go in front of them. As they also pretended to wait for a colleague, other tourists and even security didn’t suspect their behaviour. In fact, they were just looking for the best way to commit a crime.
At midnight they entered the Olympia exhibition hall through the ceiling with a rope and then, when they touched the floor, they left the rope. However, they didn’t have a lot of time, so they had to be quick. If the camera saw them, they had three seconds for escape from the exhibition hall. After a few minutes, one of the group was in a position to take the diamond, but as he took it, the security guard heard a sound and pressed the red button.
Now the group had three seconds to escape from the exhibition hall, otherwise they would be in court. They started escaping back through the ceiling and at the same time, the police came into the room. The thief with the jewel stopped moving and stuck to the ceiling with suction pads. As he was wearing all gray skin tight clothes, a white mask and didn’t move at all, the police couldn’t distinguish him from the ceiling. Seven minutes later, the police came out to find the rest of the group, but the thief waited.
So the police arrested the gang but not the one hanging from the ceiling who came out later with a diamond in his pocket. The diamond turned to be a false one… This man managed to move in St.Petersburg (Russia) and became a famous confectioner. He has produced a lot of chocolates since then. One day was an unlucky one for him. He lost his false diamond making chocolate sweets, the ones Arina liked best of all.
Chapter II
According to Artemy.K. this strange case happened about one year ago but it is still alive in our memory…
That was a wonderful sunny day. The last lesson was over. It stroke 3 p.m. and everyone came to the school canteen. We were eating very tasty food and discussing our previous holidays. And suddenly that awful scream of despair and sadness! That scream has remained forever in our memory. It was Arina’s scream, the scream of our best friend and classmate.
I rushed to her and asked what had happened. Our mate’s answer was: “It has been lost. I can’t find it.” She turned to me her sad face and I could see tears dropping from her big eyes. And on that day we swore to do our best to find it…
Chapter III
If you ask Liza R. about the incident, she will probably state that it happened one year ago. There was spring and the sky was cloudless. Despite the tiredness after the seventh lesson, all students and pupils of school 636 were cheerful. They were making jokes going to the canteen…
Like many other mates Liza and her mate Nastya were going downstairs on that day. They were discussing their plans as they were trying to find their way among little kids moving to and fro.
In the queue they saw Lena O. and could hear her telling Lena Kh.a mysterious story about a strange old man wondering in the school building and looking for something…
Chapter IV
Our dear reader, our school mate and witness Misha B. might give more information about that old guy wondering in school 636 to and fro …
In accordance with Misha’s evidence, the old guy was pale and skinny. His outfit puzzled Misha a lot: a green velvet suit, denim cap, orange boots and multicoloured socks. At 3.05 p.m. he left the canteen. Misha let him through and entered the canteen to eat “Caesar” and a cake “Decapitation”. I must admit the meal was scrumptious!
Chapter V
After the seventh lesson the only detective Andrew’s thoughts were about Misha’s homemade “Napoleon”.
He wasn’t happy to find it in the menu there but he reassured himself that Arina would definitely leave him some candies from her chocolate box. Suddenly his phone rang… Andrew found Arina in total despair….
Chapter VI
Much time has passed since then but Arina remembers everything…
He had a dark hat with ear flaps, grey coat and big round spectacles. And from the first sight I realized he would help me to find my irretrievable loss.
Andrew asked me to describe the moment when I lost it…my priceless box of chocolates…To tell you the truth, before treating my friends I had opened the box and ate one chocolate. You will not believe, but there was a diamond inside of it!!! Poor me, how sad I was when realized my box with priceless sweets had disappeared. I thought every chocolate had a diamond. Later a gemologist examined my only diamond and found out it was a fake! Can’t imagine who put that false stone into my sweets!!!
Chapter VII
Five days after that incident passed and our great snoop Andrew started his investigation connected with the suspect - that strange old guy in multicoloured socks. He chased him in the hall. As it turned out on that sunny day that poor Grandpa was looking for his naughty grandson from the form 1a . He couldn’t imagine his grandson to put Arina’s empty box into his school backpack.
Andrew knew from the old guy that the pupil B. was a sweet tooth. It took B. two seconds to eat the rest of chocolates from Arina’s box. The boy was found at the dentist’s.
As the result of his action pupil B. had had a terrible toothache for two days and was sent by his grandpa there.
Chapter VIII
After Andrew’s investigation there wasn’t any trial…Little naughty B. had been already punished, he has lost his tooth. At the dentist’s he swore not to steal candies anymore.
As for Arina, she’s got a new box of chocolate candies. That was her new present from her schoolmates…
And the DIY member, confectioner and the false diamond ex-owner was caught at school 636 5 days ago by the guard…
