Gabriel Boner Chanel
French designer, who founded the fashion house Chanel and had a huge impact on the fashion of the XX century. For the Chanel style, which contributed to the modernization of women's fashion, it is common for many elements of the traditional men's wardrobe to be borrowed and to follow the principle of luxurious simplicity.
childhood
Born in Saumur in 1883. Mother died when Gabrielle was twelve years old. Her father left with her four brothers and sisters. Later the sisters were sent to a shelter in Obazina.
Youth
At 18, Gabrielle got a job as a seller at a clothing store, and in her free time she sang in a cabaret. The girl's favorite song was “Who saw Coco in Trocadero?”, For which she was given the nickname - Coco. But she did not become a singer.
Start of activity
She opened her first store in Paris in 1910, selling ladies' hats, and during the year the fashion house moved to Cambon, 31, where it remains to this day.

In 1954, Gabrielle returned to the fashion world and presented her new collection. However, she achieved past fame and respect only after three seasons. As a result, the richest and most famous women became regular visitors to her shows.
The suit “from Chanel” has become a symbol of the status of a new generation: made from tweed, with a narrow skirt, a jacket without a collar, trimmed with braid, golden buttons and patch pockets.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Koko collaborated with various Hollywood studios, wearing stars like Audrey Hepburn and Liz Taylor.

January 10, 1971 at the age of 87 years, Gabriel has died of a heart attack at the "Ritz", where she lived for a long time. She was buried in the Bois de Vaue cemetery in Lausanne (Switzerland).
