Project: «IN HARMONY WITH NATURE»

Goor and Kahib are some of my favorite locations in Dagestan. It's just a combo! There are breathtaking views of snowy mountains, high towers where you can climb, fields with herds of cows and rams grazing on them, ruins of houses and abandoned villages here .In this project , I want to show you a photo, as well as give some practical information to make it easier for you to organize your trip to these places .

However, it was so interesting for me to read about the villages now living, to know how people live and what they do. The way of life here has not changed much over the centuries, except that there is a little more technology. The flocks of sheep are still grazing on the green slopes, people are doing their housework and time has almost stopped. In such places, it is good to slow down and not rush anywhere, enjoying simple things. Turn off your phone and the Internet, wash your face from the mountain river and listen to the crowing of roosters.

Goor Dagestan Cliff towers

Goor is interesting first of all because ancient defensive towers have been preserved here. There were seven towers in total and were surrounded by two-story stone houses, where life was in full swing. Researchers immediately called this area "the country of towers". They also assume the time of construction - the 17th century, but it is not known for certain. And the construction of the towers made the entire defensive complex completely impregnable.

Ruins Now only three of the towers remain, and only the walls of the houses. The highest 25-meter tower was destroyed relatively recently and most likely the same fate awaits the rest over time - hurry up to see it with your own eyes. In the last century, local residents gradually left the village and moved down the slope to a smoother surface, and the stones of the towers were used to build new houses.

If you go a little further and down, you will see a famous place - the Dagestan

If you go a little further and down, you will see a famous place - the Dagestan "troll's tongue". Indeed, in form it resembles the Norwegian tongue of a troll.

Kakhib After visiting Goor, be sure to go to the old Kakhib, especially since it is very close, you can even walk on foot. The new and old parts of Kakhib are separated by a mountain river, the best view of the ruins of houses and towers of the old village is from the other side of the river. Kakhib is perfectly inscribed in the relief, I cannot imagine how houses were built on such slopes in antiquity. Historians believe that the first settlement was formed here in general in the 5-7 centuries BC. As in the case of Goor, people settled in such an inaccessible place for safety, and also moved to a flatter surface in the middle of the 20th century to farm.
