The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon, carved by the Colorado River in the United States in the state of Arizona. It is considered to be one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

For thousands of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the Canyon and its many caves.

The Grand Canyon is one of America`s main tourist attractions, attracting about five million visitors a year. It`s interesting that there are different kinds of plants and animals on opposite sides of the Canyon.

The south side is dry and desert country. The north side has tall forests. The Canyon looks different at different times of day, and in different seasons and weather. At sunrise and sunset the red, gold, brown, and orange colors of the rocks are especially clear and bright.
