Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum, located on the southern bank of the Yamuna River , in the Indian city of Agra.

For the construction of the complex was invited more than 22,000 artists from all over the Empire, as well as masters of Central Asia, Persia and the Middle East. The mausoleum was built for about twenty years.

It is one of the world’s most celebrated structures and a symbol of India’s rich history.

Inside the mausoleum there are two tombs -the Shah and his wife.

Materials for the construction of the Taj Mahal were brought from all over India and from many places in Asia. The total cost of construction at that time was about thirty-two million rupees.

Throughout the complex are passages from the Qur'an that comprise some of the decorative elements.

Tens of thousands of people visit the Taj Mahal every day. This brings the country a lot of money.

It is one of the world’s most celebrated structures and a symbol of India’s rich history.
