• The Dagestan Natural Reserve was established in 1987. it is located on two sites within the Tarumovsky and Buinaksky districts.

The Reserve has a very rich flora and fauna. A lo of animals, many species of fish live there, wild boars, hares, wolves, goats, ducks and even flamingos. The Reserve has 350 plant species. Many of them are listed in the Red Book.

Dune Sarykum is one of the highest dunes in the world. It is located in mountainous Dagestan. Its height is over 250 m.
