WELCOME TO THE UnITED KINGDOM
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Irelands is situated on the British Isles.
The British Isles consists of two large islands, Great Britain and Ireland, and about five thousand small islands.
Their total area is over 244,000 square kilometers.
The UK is made up of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales and doesn't include Northern Ireland.

The capital of the UK is London.
The Tower
- The Tower of London is one of the most interesting historic sights of London. The Tower has a long and rich history. It has once been a royal palace, a fortress, a prison, a place of execution and even a zoo. Today, it’s mainly a historical museum.
The Royal residence
- Buckingham Palace was built in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham. Buckingham Palace is not only the royal residence: it's a small city under one roof. It has a cinema, a post-office, some caffees and a restaurant, a hospital and even a night club. More than 700 people work here every day.
The UK is constitutional monarchy. In law, the Head of State is the Queen, but in practice, the Queen reigns, but does not rule. The country is ruled by the elected government with the Prime Minister at the head.
St Paul's Cathedral
- St Paul's Cathedral is one of the most famous buildings in the world, and it is also one of the greatest survivors!
Westminster Abbey
- Westminster Abbey is the place where many outstanding Englishmen are buried, among them well-known poets, writers, scientists, statesmen, painters and many others. According to the ancient tradition all English kings and queens were crowned and wed here.
Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, is one of Britain's most attractive cities. At the top of the highest hill in Edinburgh is Edinburgh Castle. Soldiers have marched through its gates for nearly a thousand years. It was the home of Scotland's royal family until the year 1603.
