Ход урока:

Warm-up: Good afternoon, nice to see you. How are you today? Let’s start our lesson with a tongue twister. Pay attention to the letter in bold. How do we pronounce it. [w]:

While we were walking,

We were watching

Window washers washing,

Washington’s windows with warm washing water.

Let’s pronounce it all together (repeat after the teacher, chorally, individually, slowly, faster & faster).

Read the last line. What is Washington? (Washington is the capital of the USA).

We’ve already spoken about Scotland, Belarus and the UK. Today we will continue speaking about different countries. We will compare them.

At home you learned some facts about the UK. Answer my questions:

  1. Where do the British Isles lie?

  2. What does GB include?

  3. What do GB & Northern Ireland form?

  4. What is the official name of the country?

  5. What is the population of the United Kingdom?

  6. What is the highest mountain in the UK?

  7. What is the capital of the country?
