The Leader of XXI century.

A teacher: Good evening, dear teachers, pupils and guests! You are welcome to our leader club and to our party “The Leader of XXI century” Today we will define the best leader. And now I want to invite our participants. We are glad to see you here and we want to wish you good luck!

  • The first step for you is: you must introduce yourself!

  • Thank you! I wish you good luck once again! Everyone will get a point for the correct answer in the competition and at the end of the party we’ll see who the Leader of XXI century is.

  • Now I will introduce you with the process of the game. Our game consists of four stages:

  1. Answer the questions”

  2. Guess the riddles”

  3. What do you know about these countries?”

  4. Who is the best”

  1. Now, let’s begin the game! Our first stage is “Answer the questions

At this stage you must answer my questions. For each correct answer you will get 10 points. (The students may be given special jettons to count ).

  • The capital of the USA (Washington)

  • The smallest bird in the world. (Calibri)

  • The longest river in Great Britain. (The Severn)

  • When is the St. Valentine’s Day celebrated? (the 14th of February).

  • What is the currency of the USA? (Dollar)

  • Who sing the song “You my heart, you my soul” (Modern Talking)

  • What were the last two American states to join? (Hawaii and Alaska)

  • Who wrote about Harry Potter?

  • The capital of Russia? (Moscow)

  • Musical questions. Listen to the music. What is the name of this song and what group is it performed by? (“One way ticket”, “Eruption”).

  • What is the highest mountain in the UK? (Ben Nevis)

  • Name the four seasons. (Spring, summer, autumn, winter)

  • What was the number of the first English colonies in America? (13)

  • The biggest ocean on our planet. (The Pacific Ocean)

  • What is the largest museum in London? (The British Museum)

  • The river in London.(The Thames)

  • Translate the proverb “Better late than never”

  • What is the real name Mark Twain? (Samuel Clemens)

  • The largest country in the world. (Russia)

  • What holiday is celebrated on the 31st of October? (Hallowe’en)

  • London is the capital of… (The UK and England)

  • Musical question. Listen to the song. What is the name of the song and what group it is performed by. (“Yesterday” – the “Beatles”)

(The questions can be added)

A teacher: That is all. Now let’s counts your points.

  1. Next stage. I’ll give you some riddles and you will try to guess them. Then you will translate these words into your own language. If you give us the correct answer in English and Russian you will get 20 points for each answer.

  1. It always beats and hops,

It never sleeps and stops,

And never will be part

With your little… (Heart, сердце)

  1. Do you know the name of this insect? It gets up very early; it works all day, if it is not raining; it likes flowers; it lives in hives. (a bee)

  2. A man with twelve children. Some of them warm, some of the cold. (a year)

  3. What man can’t live inside the house? (a snowman)

  4. The teacher writes on me with chalk,

My face is black, I cannot talk. (a blackboard)

  1. A blue sheet covers the whole world. What is it? (the sky)

  2. What is it: without hands and without feet, without a head or a body but can open the door? (a wind)

  3. It is white, it is cold. We can skate on it. What is it? (ice)

  4. It is blue by night, by day it is white.

It is cold and not dry.

It falls from the sky. (Snow)

  1. They don’t eat me alone,

But they cannot eat without me.

What am I? (salt)

A teacher: That is all. Let’s count the points. Unfortunately, we must say good bye to our participants, who have less points than others. Thank you for your participation.

And now let’s begin our third stage which is called “What do you know about these countries?” On this board you can see some questions about 3 countries: the USA, Russia and the UK. Every question has its own price. You can choose any question you like. If you answer the question, you will get your points. If not, we’ll take them out of you.

  1. About the USA: Who is the president of the USA now? What is his name?

(20 points)

  1. What oceans is the USA washed by? (The Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans) – 30 points

  2. Whose name was given to America? (Amerigo Vespucci) – 40 points

  3. When was the Declaration of Independence issued? (July,4. 1776) - 50 points

a) About the UK: What is the national emblem of England? (Rose) – 20

points;

b) How many countries the UK consists of? (4, England, Scotland, Wales and

Northern Ireland) – 30 points.

c) What is the highest mountain in GB? (Ben Nevis) – 40 points.

d) In what theatre were the Shakespeare’s plays staged? (The Globe theatre)

- 50 points.

3. About Russia. A) The first man in space (Yu. Gagarin) – 20 points

b) The first president’s name of Russia (B.Yeltsin) – 30 points

c) The Crimea became the subject of the Russian Federation (2014) - 40 points

d) When was the Declaration of Independence in Russia issued? (June, 12. 1990) - 50 points


The teacher: Let’s count the points. The students, who has gathered less points than others must leave our game.

  • Now we begin our fourth stage: “Who is the best?”. In this stage one of you who gathered fewer points will choose one envelope. In these envelopes there are two letters : A and B. I will read you 15 questions and all answers on these questions must begin with the letter A or B. The same rules relates to our second participant. Is everything clear for you? Then let’s begin.

  • Letter A

  • The name of the fruit (an apple)

  • The river in the USA (Amazon)

  • The name of the month (April)

  • A part of the body (Arm)

  • The name of the school subject (Algebra)

  • The name of the president of the USA (Abraham)

  • One of the ocean. (Atlantic)

  • A funny story (anecdote)

  • A story in the newspaper (Article)

  • A stupid animal (Ass)

  • A mathematical term (Axiom)

  • The first letter of the alphabet. (A)

  • We cannot live without it. (Air)

  • Letter B

  • A little child (baby)

  • The name of the fruit (banana)

  • A part of the body (back)

  • The antonym to the word “good” (bad)

  • An object in the classroom (blackboard)

  • A kind of a dance (ballet)

  • The capital of Germany (Berlin)

  • The name of the school subject (biology)

  • The purest lake in the world (The Baikal)

  • The room where we sleep (bedroom)

  • A person without money and the house (beggar)

  • An important day for all of us which happens once every year (birthday)

  • A colour (black or blue)

  • The member of the family (brother)

  • A clever friend of the man (book)

A teacher: Now I think it just the time to give a word to our judges.

A judge: The Leader of the XXI century who got the most point is… Our congratulations to you!
