Beaumaris Castle

The ancient Beaumaris Castle rises on the island of Anglesey. Its location, namely the Menai Strait, is considered the border between Anglesey and the north coast of Wales. Previously, this place was called the Viking Port, in honor of the people who lived in these parts for a long time. It was built in 1295 by order of King Edward the First, who decided to build an "iron ring" of fortresses. Beaumaris, along with the castles of Conwy, Harleck and Carnarvon, was supposed to be the next link of this ring. Thus, girding Wales, the king sought to consolidate his power.

Snowdonia National Park

Snowdonia has the status of a national park. It is the first county park in Wales and among the first three in the UK, after Lake and Rocky Edge. It is located in Wales, more precisely in its northern part. The name Snowdonia came from Snowdon Mountain, which rises above Wales – its height is 1085 m. It originally designated the vicinity of the mountain, but after the construction of a national park here in 1951, the entire park began to bear this name. Its area is slightly more than 2 sq.km. The territory of the park is the location of the highest mountain in England, a large lake in Wales, beautiful villages.

Harlech Castle

The city of Harlech is located in the west of Wales. Harlek Castle is the pride of all the people and makes the city famous throughout the district. It was thanks to him that the city gained popularity and began to be mentioned in historical documents. The castle was built during the reign of King Edward the First. Together with other equally famous castles, Harlech encircled Wales, that is, it was part of the "iron ring". The head and architect of the construction of all the castles was engineer James. Harlech was built for 7 years, using a concentric plan.

Carnarvon Castle

The city of Carnarvon certainly owes its popularity to the castle, which was built a long time ago on the ruins of a Roman fort. When the Norman castle was destroyed, a new one was built in its place by the decree of King Edward. The construction was entrusted to Master James. This great Edwardian 1st edifice is part of the "iron ring" of fortresses. Carnarvon is distinguished from the rest by its multifaceted towers. There are only nine of them and each has its own original name. Among them are the Black and Barn Towers, the towers of the Eagle and the Steward, as well as the gates of the King and Queen.

St. David’s

St. David’s is located on the western peninsula of St. Davids and occupies a very small area. Cathedral of St. David, built in the Gothic style, is the face of the city. All tourists perceive it as the main attraction. People lived in these places even under the Romans, and the current city arose only after the foundation of the cathedral. This event happened back in the VI century. Bishop David of Menevia became the founder of the monastic community.
