British newspapers are divided into "quality" papers and tabloids. Quality newspapers are for serious readership. These papers are bigger in size, with larger articles and more detailed information. The "quality" papers are - "The Times", "Daily Telegraph", "The Guardian", "Financial Times", "The Independent".

The popular are less in size with many pictures, big headlines and short articles. They are easy to read. They are such papers as “Daily Mirror”, “Daily Mail”, Daily Express

The Daily Telegraph

The Daily Telegraph is a daily morning broadsheet newspaper. In January 2009 the Telegraph was the highest selling British broadsheet newspaper. It has been politically conservative and is often referred to as the Torygraph .

The Times

The Independent

is a British i ndependent newspaper

It is nicknamed the Indy

Launched in 1986, it is one of the youngest UK national daily newspapers.

The Independent has a reputation for its emphasis on views

The Financial Times

The Financial Times ( FT ) is a British international business newspaper.

The FT specializes in business and financial news.

The Daily Mirror

The Daily Mirror is a British tabloid newspaper founded in 1903.

It contains cartoon strips, comics, a letters page, a problem page and “shock issues”

The Daily Mail

The Daily Mail is a British daily middle market tabloid newspaper.

It is the UK’s second biggest-selling daily newspaper after The Sun.

It was a newspaper for women, and is still the only British newspaper whose readership is more than 50% female.

The Daily Express

The Daily Express is a conservative British tabloid newspaper.

The Daily Express select front-page stories often ignoring the major news of the day in favour of spurious stories.

The newspapers in Britain are proud of the fact that they are different from each other – each tries to have a different profile
