The Silk Road was the most important economical and cultural route that connected all countries from China to Rome. As the main good on bargain was silk, people started to call this route “The Great Silk Road.”

The Silk Road lasted 6.500 km. People travelled through the road on camels as these animals were very hardy and carried both people and goods. Along the road there were several special spots where people could have a rest and camels could have a drink.

People exchanged a wide range of goods. For example, China sold its silk and bought from other countries glassware, gold, silver, beautiful stones and so on.

But travelling along the road was dangerous . There were deserts, mountains, bad weather conditions and bad people. However, people shared not only necessary objects and goods but also, medical and geographical knowledge, learned foreign language and get acquainted with other countries’ culture.
