The Russian Federation is the largest country in the world. It occupies about one-seventh of the earth's surface.

The capital of Russia is Moscow. It was founded by Yury Dolgoruki in 1147. Now it is the largest political, economic, administrative, cultural and scientific centre of Russia.

There are over two million rivers in Russia. Europe's biggest river, the Volga, flows into the Caspian Sea.

The stripes are white, blue and red. The upper stripe is white, the middle stripe is blue and the red stripe is at the bottom. These colours have always been symbolic in Russia: white – noble and sincere, blue – honest and devoted – devoted to friends, family and to the country. The red colour has always meant love and bravery.

The National Emblem.

The two-headed eagle is a new national emblem which originates from the heraldic emblem of Ruricovitches. Above the heads there are three crowns. The eagle carries a scepter, the sign of state power and an orb, the sign of unity.

Firstly, about Russian people. To my mind, the main traits of their characters which differ them from other people are hospitality, their «open heart», «golden hands», wise Russian fairytales reflect this wisdom.

our country is famous for Russian traditional specific crafts, its skilled craftsmen. Painted boxes of Palekh, colored shawls of Pavlov Posad, clay toys of Dymkovo, laces of Vologda are known all over the world.
