TEXT 9. SAVE THE BEAUTY OF OUR LAND.

If you look down at the Earth from a plane, you will see how beautiful our planet is. You will see blue seas and oceans, rivers and lakes, green forests and fields.

There are forests in many parts of the world, but the biggest rainforests are in South America, Africa and Asia. About 75 per cent of all animals that we know live in rainforests. There are a lot of beautiful birds, insects and reptiles in them. Many of them live in the trees. You can also see many different plants and a lot of high trees there.

Rainforests are very important to us. We need them. The trees and other plants help to keep the air fresh. They also help to control the weather. They give us wood, fruits and a lot of medicines.

But today in many places the rainforests are in danger. People cut down too many trees and a lot of animals disappear because they can live only in big forests. Trees and plants are very important for everything alive. Our nature is in danger because people cut down forests.

Another serious problem today is the sea.

Around the world, a lot of kinds of fish, dolphins and whales are dying because the water in the seas and oceans is dirty. People in many countries are trying to protect dolphins and whales. They photograph them, make television programmes and write about them in newspapers.

We must know that our life depends on the nature around us and we must do what we can to keep it clean.
