A day in the nursery

In nursery schools children learn some elementary things such as numbers, colours and letters. Apart from that, babies play, have meals and sleep there. Whatever they do, there is always someone keeping an eye on them: a nursery school teacher or an assistant. Here is an example of a typical day in a nursery school in Great Britain:

Nursery Timetable – Daily Routine
While certain events or circumstances may change the daily routine, the pattern below is generally followed:
08:30 Welcome children and parents, free play activities
09.00 Morning registration news, weather, songs, rhymes, class lesson etc (Monday Assembly 9.15)
09.30 Directed/free play activities, art/craft activities, sound/maths activities
10.30 Tidy up time, followed by carpet time – story, topic, songs
10.45 Toilet, drink and snack – during snack time topic based discussion is encouraged
11.10 Outside play session in nursery playground
11.30 Continued topic work, library visits, adventure playground sessions, music lessons, P.E. etc.
12.15 Tidy up time
12.20 Lunch time
13.00 Toilet and outside play in nursery playground
13.30 Afternoon registration, structured/free play and craft activities – continued topic work
14.15 Toilet, drink and snack
14.30 Outdoor play – into big playground
14.50 Directed/free play, tidy up time. (Thursday 14.50 Assembly)
15.30 Story time and discussion, coats on ready for home time
15.45 Parents to collect children
