Dear Bill,

Thank you for your recent letter. I’m awfully sorry for not writing to you earlier, I had so many tasks at school that I had very little free time.

Last Monday we had a lesson of biology, where we discussed relations between people and animals. Have you ever discussed this problem at your lessons?

Some of our students think that it is cruel to keep animals at the Zoos and they should be closed. Do you agree with this idea? Besides, animals suffer greatly because of vivisection that is experiments on live animals, when medicines and cosmetics are tested on them. Do you think that this practice should be banned? How else can medicines be tested? What is more, a lot of our students keep pets. Is it popular in your country? Is it easy to keep pets at home? What do you have to do to make them happy?

There is a great number of different ways of spending summer holidays. It depends on person, on his culture, education, age, social level and personal tastes and preferences. So, everyone likes his own way of summertime spending. It is a great pleasure to have a rest after a whole year of hard work or study. People like to travel during their summer holidays. Some people go abroad to see new countries, some people prefer to go to the country-side to enjoy country-life far from noise and fuss of big cities. Other people like staying at home doing nothing, but watching TV and playing computer games.
Some people like to spend their holidays in cities, visiting theatres, museums and going sightseeing. But a great number of people go to the seaside.
