Elizabeth was born in London and educated privately at home. She was the oldest daughter of Elizabeth I and Prince Albert, who later obtained the title King George VI. From the very childhood she was very keen on studying. Her most favourite subjects included arts and sport. Her youth was troubled by the Second World War. At the age of 15 Elizabeth had been appointed Colonel-in-Chief. Elizabeth’s only sibling was Princess Margaret, who was four years younger than her.

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain very carefully selects the people who are responsible for her wardrobe, and the rotation of employees in this position is negligible. The previous senior valet of Her Majesty, Miss Peggy Hoat, worked in her position for 35 years. The current one, Angela Kelly, has held this position of personal assistant since 2002, having previously served for several years under the Queen. At the end of October, she released the book The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, which tells not only about the style of Elizabeth II, but also about their personal relationship with her — of course, with the full monarch's blessing

Many of Her Majesty's outfits have been stored in her wardrobe for 25 years and worn several times. Elizabeth II was distinguished by extraordinary neatness and thrift — she aspired to eco-friendly consumption even before it became a global trend. The seamstresses assigned each royal image its own name. The names were recorded in special diaries, indicating the year and the event for which a particular costume was worn. This made it possible to build an understandable system of repeating images — there were events at which it was impossible to appear in an outfit already familiar to the public.
