Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born on the 31 st of July 1965 in Chipping Sortberry, Gloustershire, England.

Rowling liked to tell stories since her childhood and she wrote her first fairy tale when she was 5 years old - it was a fairy tale about a rabbit whose name was Rabbit.

She was quiet, myopic and awfully unsportive. Her favo u rite subjects were English and other languages.

Joanne entered the University in Exeter immediately after school and studied French.

In 1991, when she was 26, she went to Portugal and taught English there.

Joanne gave lessons after dinner and in the evening and in the morning she wrote.

In Portugal she met a portuguese journalist and married him.
