Movies are truly an art of our time:
- they were born and have come of age in the 20th century
- they now demand the serious consideration given to the other arts
The Frenchman Louis Lumiere is often credited as inventing the first motion picture camera in 1895
Lumiere's invention began the motion picture era
1895 - Lumiere and his brother - the first to present projected, moving, photographic, pictures to a paying audience of more than one person
This date is known as the birth of cinema
In the silent era of film, synchronizing the image with sound was not possible for inventors and producers, since no practical method was invented until 1923
1926 - Hollywood studio Warner Brothers introduced the “Vitaphone” system, producing short films of live entertainment acts and public figures and adding recorded sound effects
Through improvisation, trial, and error, certain techniques and practices became accepted as conventions for expressing certain ideas, indicating sequence of action, and developing characters
There has been an increasing globalization of the cinema during the 20 th century with films like
- “ Hidden Dragon”;
- “ Amelie”
- “ Spirited Away”
gaining popularity in various areas
One major new development of the end of the 20 th century is the appearance of 3-D film or S3D film
3-D films have existed in some form since 1980 , but until 2010 had been largely referred to a niche in the motion picture industry
Cinema
-exercises a great influence on the mind of the people.
-a great educative value.
-there are certain subjects, such as science and geography, which can be more effectively taught with the help of talkies
The popularity of cinema is the result of highly-modernized lives full of highly-modernized things and technologies:
- minds of people receive their nourishment primarily from visual sources
- hence visual narrative is the greatest aesthetic and educational force now, capable of bringing in the world of people both good and bad
