ПРЕДМЕТНАЯ ПОДГОТОВКА ДЛЯ УЧИТЕЛЕЙ АНГЛИЙСКОГО ЯЗЫКА

Practice Makes Perfect

Задание 1. Phonetics.

Record 5 rhymes or phrases with the subtle English humour.

E.g. A sailor went to sea

To see what he could see.

And all he could see

Was the deep blue sea. To go to sea= to work on a ship; to go to the sea=to go to the seashore


Задание 2 Vocabulary.

Task 1. Make a list of British and American equivalents: 2 of the in different spelling, 2 of different pronunciation; 10 of diferrent words. All in all 14 pairs.

Task 2. Paraphrase using negative prefixes and suffixes:

1)The mission is not possible. 2) The apple is not ripe. 3) I’ll do it without any effort. 4) The cake is not cooked enough. 5) He doesn’t believe that he has made a mistake. 7) She doesn’t understand me. 8) His speech is not logical. 8) These two things are not compatible. 9) Your answer is not correct. 10) It is beyond me – the room is not comfortable and the time for the meeting is not convenient.


Задание 3 Grammar.

Task 1. Make corrections of the text:

“1.We interrupt our usual schedule to bring you an important news.

2. We are receiving informations about a spaceship that has landed outside the White House.

3. The large ship seems to be made of glasses.

4. Reports say that a short time ago aliens came out of the craft.

5. Eye-witnesses described them as short and said their clothes was made of metal and their hairs was bright green.

6. Strangely, one of them appeared to be wearing a jean.

7. Much people said that they seemed to be friendly.

8. The President is currently holding a meeting with the visitors in the hope that we can exchange knowledges.

9. Police advice are to stay indoors and under no circumstances approach the speceship.

10. We will be back with another news as soon as we can.

11. And now, back to your usual program Gardening for Beginners.”

Task 2. Change the sentence using the word given so that a new sentence has a similar meaning to the first one.

1.I should have taken my medicine this morning, but I didn’t remember. (forget)

2. I’ll always remember the time when I went up Mont Blanc. (never)

3. Darren thinks wearing a suit to work is appropriate. (likes)

4. Jacki wishes she had not said it to Alli. (regrets)

5. Crashing the car was not my intention, you know! (mean)

6. Jim’s mum forsed him to tidy his room before he could go and play in the park. (made)

7. I don’t suppose you watched the film on BBC2 last night, did you? (happen)

8. People often think that learning Latin is a waste of time. (considered)

9. People have not used smartphones before. (used to)

10. I don’t see any point in buying a new suit for the wedding. (worth while)


Задание 4 Reading Activities.

Surf the site http://www.britainexpress.com and find information about some nook of the UK.

Explain why you have chosen that direction (north, south, west, east), what interesting facts you have found, what impression you have got after reading the text.


Задание 5 Writing Activities.

Write 200 words essay based on some infograph. Add the infograph to your essay. Use the Oblique Mood.
