Analysing a story



I. Introduction (The opening sentences/the beginning of your retelling)

  2. The author of the text (if it is known): The author of the text is… ./ Its author is…. .

  1. The date and place of the text’s publishing (if it is given): The text was published in …./ taken from/ dated by… .

  2. The time and place of the story’s action: The action takes place in…. .

  3. The main character of the text: The main character/characters is/are…… .

  4. The main idea of the text. The main idea of the text is …. . / It is devoted to…. ./ It concerns with … .

  5. The message of the author. The author wants to say… ./ The author’s message is …. .

II. Body (The text of your retelling)

  1. How to start retelling: In the beginning of the text…. . / The text starts from / begins with the fact that / begins saying that…. . / The author starts saying that…. .

  2.
