• Stereotypes are based on prejudice and humor. They often determine how people from different cultures accept each other in communication.
• National stereotypes are what people of one nationality think about people of the other one.
• Although a lot of stereotypes are based on real facts, the others have nothing in common with real life.

• There are a lot of McDonald`s and Burger King restaurants in the streets of all American cities and towns. That`s why people eat in them every day and they are overweight. So this stereotype is true.

• The stereotype is partly true because most of the Americans carry guns and pistols. The streets of the USA are dangerous. There is a lot of violence and crime.

• They do smile because if they don`t they will be fired from their job. It`s a policy of many companies in the US.

• This stereotype is a fake. In every country there are poor people ready to fight for every baks and the US are not an exception. But in common the American people are as enthusiastic about money as we are.

• This stereotype is partly true. There are a lot of politically aggressive people in the USA who think that their country is the best but not all.

• « A land of buxom women handling out vodka by the bucket load » isn`t so in fact.
• Not everybody in Russia drink vodka and other alcohol drinks. There are some people who drink alcohol, also there are a lot of people who don`t. That`s why this stereotype is a fake.

• I am Russian and most of my friends are Russian too. We aren`t spies or criminals. Personally I don`t know any spy or criminal. So this stereotype isn`t true at all. More over KGB doesn`t exist for more then 25 years.

In Russia bears aren`t walking down the streets. They live in zoos, reservations and forests. We can see them there. But bear is the symbol of Russia. That`s where this popular stereotype comes from.

• In Russia there are other seasons besides winter. There are warm and cold seasons. And this stereotype is fake. By the way felt boots and flap hats are out of fashion.

• The Russians seldom go to parades or demonstrations. The most popular celebration with a parade is the Victory Day.

Not all stereotypes are true. Most of them have nothing in common with reality.

So don`t trust stereotypes and make your own opinion about people.
