Ход урока.
1. Орг. момент.
Good afternoon. Sit down, please. I am glad to see you in our English club.
2. Введение.
The theme of our work is “Travel Agencies”. Today we’ve gathered together to talk about the working of travel agencies. What kind of tours do you offer? How can they advertise their tours? What kind of leaflets, travel cards do they publish to attract their clients?
3. Просмотр видеофильмов.
I want you to show how travel agencies in Great Britain can advertise the place where they want to invite to or advice to visit.
The first film will be about Oxford. We know that Oxford is a city of Universities. What else agencies can tell us about this city?
The next film is about Stradford-upon-the Avon. Stradford-upon-the Avon is a birth-place of one of the most famous writer in Great Britain. Do you know who this man is? (William Shakespeare).
4. Our Native Places.
Let’s play a little.
Imagine that you are travel agents. And you have to advertise our native places to foreign guests. The students from the 11 form will be our foreign guests. You have to interest them to visit our Penza and our little town Kamenka.
- Dear guests, I’m the manager of our tour agency. I’m sure you have already seen the big cities: Moscow, St-Petersburg and others. They are beautiful cities But today we want you to offer to visit the countryside of our country. And the first place where you can go is Penza.
PENZA.
Towns are like people: they each have their own personality? Their own specialties, their own unique pasts. The city of Penza? The capital of the Penza Region, was founded in 1663 making Penza over 330 years old. The city was originally built as a fortress under the reign of Czar Ivan the Terrible as a part of a “necklace” of fortresses built to protect the rest of Russia from the armies of attacking nomads. You can still see the remains of the originally fortress’ walls on today’s Kirov Street along with a watch-tower and belfry. The monument is a visible link between the past and the present. If historical relics are neglected or destroyed, there is a danger that the past may be forgotten and the roots of the nation cut off. Today, the original wooden walls of the Penza fortress and small one-story buildings have given way to a new, modern Russifn city.
You want to ask what the weather will be like there. Listen to the information about the geographical position of this region.
Penza Region is a small region. But there are towns where you always want to go, because it is a birth-place of the most famous people in our country. They are: Tarkhany, Chembar. But also there is Kamenka. It is a birth-place of the famous doctor, surgeon N. N. Burdenko and the lord of Nicholas II – V. N. Voeickov and others. I want to offer you Kamenka. What is the place? Listen to the information.
KAMENKA.
All peple have their native towns. Kamenka is my native town. I was born in Kamenka and I live here.
Kamenka is not very large but it is nice. It has a very long history. Many years ago the land where our town stands was official called “a wild land”.
Kamenka was founded in the 17-th century. It was not even a village just a small settlement consisting of several houses. The settlement belonged to V. N. Voeickov who was a landlord and a very rich man.
After the Russian Revolution in 1917 Kamenka became rather a big village, but it began to grow quickly during the Great Patriotic War (the II World War) and in the past period. In 1951 it became a town.
The population of Kamenka is about 44,000 people. Kamenka is one of the industrial centers in Penza Region. There are many plants and factories there. They are the Sugar Plant, the factories which produce butter, sweets, bread, sausages and other products.
- I’ve already said that Kamenka is a birth-place of N. N. Burdenko. Who was this man?
