To learn the other language-to live the second life”


I’m Chovdurbayeva Kurbanay, a teacher of English of Zhanaozen school-gymnasia, graduated from Turkmen National Institute of World Languages in 2000 in Ashgabad. My length of service is 11 years. Category is13.

The famous Kazakh writer Zhusipbek Aimautov said “Nowadays Kazakh schools need not only a teacher as an educator but also a teacher who teaches pupils to live. All the time an experienced, literate teacher takes a special place in our society”.

XXI century is a century of developed knowledge and we must teach pupils not the base of science but also to the economy, mass media and we must teach them to live in a strong life condition. That’s why the main teacher’s tasks are: to do everything in improvement of pupils’ knowledge and to do creative works. A teacher who does creative and searching works always takes a special place in his pupil’s heart. I’m also a successor of such kind of teacher- Rafikova Raisa Mikhalovna. When I studied at school she influenced on me very much and I had wanted to become a teacher of English. She had taught me to adore English very much. Besides of it she had taught to read English literature too. From that time M. Twain, Ch. Dickens etc. began to be my favorite writers.. Reading their novels and stories in Russian and in my native languages, introducing with their customs and traditions my interests to their country were rised, and so I decided to enter the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages in Ashgabad..

After finishing the Institute I returned to my native school and my teacher Rafikova Raisa began to be my mentor. And from that time she had been beginning to teach me- her former pupil, to be a good teacher. At that time schools were beginning to teach pupils English from primary classes and we were working together with my Raisa apai in teaching little children of the 1st grade to English who couldn’t write and read on their own languages. And of course it was very difficult to me. My mentor teacher Raisa apai was helping me to overcome difficulties. Until now she is my favorite teacher and I put her above myself because she has deep knowledge and she is a professional of her job. And to be a profession all of my job I take Abai’s popular expression: “Ұстаздық еткен жалықпас үйретуден балаға” as my slogan in my searching work. And my problematic theme is: “To teach pupils English deeply using interactive methods and to rise their abilities and skills in Learning English”

My main tasks on that theme are: “to awaken the pupils’ activities, to develop their creative skills. According to our President N. Nazarbayev’s speech in his strategic program 2020”… We must leave our friendly relationship with near and distant neighbors to the growing generation as legacy; I put forward myself the following aims: to format the pupils’ world view, to format citizens who think about the future of their country, to make a deposit in formatting citizens whose knowledge correspond to the state standards, bring up patriots of our country and to bring up highly developed persons who knows his native language language well and other foreign languages too, and to know the culture, history, geography of English country.

According to the problematic aims above I want to show my work in the following scheme. I include my aims put before myself into 3 parts of the lesson’s aims.





































The development of nowadays society made more difficulties to the teacher’s job. And now are put the higher demands to the teacher’s skills of teaching and sing new methods.

At my experience I try to use new technological methods at my lessons too, and always try to vary my lessons. Conducting different kinds of knowledge competitions I rise the pupils interests to the subject and I enrich their lexis using national pedagogy elements.

As national Kazakh hero B. Momyshuly said: “It is the teacher who grows the leader, the scientist, the hard working farmer and the miner of the future”, teacher must be steadfast in relationship with a pupil and if he explains the lesson clear he will climb to the top of the knowledge with his pupils. To achieve successes I pay attention to the quality of pupils’ knowledge and put forward myself the task to work hard on rising them. My most using method is called Bloom’s taxonomy.

The intent of it was to develop a classification system for three domains: the cognitive, the affective and the psychomotor

I often use Critical Thinking Tuition (CTO) and Karayev’s technologies at my lessons.

Critical Thinking Tuition is acceptable in teaching and effective to teach pupils to speak English freely; Helps them to express their opinions freely;

According to this method pupils have trusting relations with the teacher.

And in conclusion pupils behave themselves freely at the lesson. Their interests in studying English raised and they try freely expressing their concepts. I often use the “Supposition Strategy”, “Organization Strategy”, “Semantic cards”, “Mixing stories” etc.

I use Karaev’s level teaching technology only when it is suitable to theme of the lesson. According to this method we have possibility to develop pupils’ abilities, thoughts and to rise their activity. This method consists of 4 level tasks.

The 1st level task is necessary task for all pupils. Every pupil takes part in it.

The 2nd and 3rd levels are gradually complicated. They are algorithmic and everestic levels. And every pupil must do them. And 4th level is more difficult than others. Pupils who knows English better, who has personal abilities in learning English, who can creative works cope with this task.

In conclusion we can see pupil’s personal ability. And this method helps us to determine such pupils and helps us to continue the developing work with them. Our task to aware and to share their hidden abilities and skills to help them to develop these skills.

Also I want to tell about my “Toastmasters International Club” in our school. The main aim of this club is to develop the speaking skills of the pupils. Last year we performed our first presentation on the City seminar. The best speakers were awarded with diplomas.

We know that creative work is the highest form of man’s personal creative qualities and activities. And it is not possible to develop pupils’ activity at the process of one lesson only. Teacher must pay special attention to their independent work and to work on developing their mental activities, to teach them do the tasks by themselves according to their abilities.

According to my experience I include pupils who have special activities in learning English to subject Olympiad, to the competitions such as “Accels”, “Kangaroo”, “British Bulldog”. And pupils who want to learn English deeper and want to do creative work I include to the optional, club lessons and I give them individual tasks using electronic tuition. I use electronic tuition at my lessons too in multimedia classroom.

Teacher’s work is connected with outdoor lessons too. At my extracurricular, educational lessons I also use new technologies. For example,

I conducted a literature party about a great English writer W. Shakespeare using Critical Thinking Tuition (CTO) and national pedagogy at this lesson. We compared him with our great Abai Kunanbayev.

According to our program the 5th hour of each lesson at the 7th, 8th grade is given for home reading lesson. At such lessons we learn extracts from English literature books and I complete my lessons taking extracts from such famous books of Ch. Dickens, Sh. Bronte etc. I take this kind of books in order to bring up them to be honest, strong, clever as heroes of the books and to be fond of these writers and their books. According to our program we have audio cassettes to aiding the home reading tasks and in order to rise their abilities to understand the meaning of the unknown stories.

Nowadays the development of our society goes step with the development of knowledge and they are rising now. And there are many news on these spheres. My aim is to include such kind of news at my lessons. For example, at the 11th grade we have hours on English and American Educational System. At my lesson I explained educational system of these 2 countries and compared with the educational system of our country. We worked on finding differences between Kazakhstan and American-English Educational systems.

Besides of it we’ve learnt that now there are great possibilities for Kazakh pupils to continue their knowledge entering the universities of foreign countries. And I invited my pupils to study well and to try to make great efforts in going to study abroad. In this way I try to include different political news which takes place nowadays.
As I’m a class supervisor of the 9th form I use new technologies at my extracurricular and class hours discussing political news with them too. And I pay great attention to the knowledge quality of my 9th class. Such pupils as Tursabek N., Tarbanova A., Alipbai E., Zhailaubayev A are leaders of subject Olympiads and of scientific works.

At every period of time the main tasks standing before human beings are: to grow the generation who keeps the health way of life and has deep knowledge and who thinks about our society. I want to finish my report with V.A. Sukhomlinsky’s words: “To show his knowledge level, teacher must have deep knowledge. If he kept himself as a pupil in order to develop his intellectual richness, pedagogical culture and skills there would be such pupils who want to be as their teacher.”
