Differences and similarities between average russian and british family

When I became more grown up, I’ve realized that a group of people who have the same name and sit together in front of a TV set isn’t yet a family. 
The English are a nation of stay-at-home. There is no place like home,- 
they say. And when man isn’t working he is at home in the company of his wife and children. 
A typical British family used to consist of mother, father and two children. 
Since the low made it easier to get a divorce, the number of divorces has increased. This means that there are a lot of one-parent families. However, the majority of divorced people marry again, and they sometimes take responsibility for a second family. 
Now the people marrying latter: the average woman gets married at 24. She now has her first child at the age of 27, but she will have only one or two children: only one mother in four has more. 
The majority of the British population lives in small houses built close together. A typical house of this kind is with two floors. 
Members of a family keep in touch, but they see less of each other than they used to. This is because people often move away from their hometown to work. 
In Russia over 80 per cent of women and about 70 per cent of men marry by the age of 25. Every year about one million families break up. About 50 per cent of divorces do not to remarry. Over 50 per cent of divorced men remarry within a period of ten years, while 25 per cent of such women do so. 
The young families have material difficulties. As a result, young couples often have to rely on the assistance of their parents. Most of young people don’t wish to live together with their parents after they get married but about half of them have to do this. As a result these young people have no necessary experience in family life. 
The Russian and the English family have little differences. 

Great Britain

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. They lie to the north-west of Europe and are separated from the continent by the narrow strait of water. It is called the English Channel. Seas and oceans influence the British climate. It is too cold in winter but never very hot in summer.

The United Kingdom consists of four parts: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. England is the central part, it occupies the most of the island of Great Britain. Each part has its capital: the capital of England is London, Scotland has Edinburgh, Wales has Cardiff, and the main city of Northern Ireland is Belfast.

The capital of Great Britain is London; it is the cultural center of the country and is situated on the banks of the Thames. There are s lot of places of interest to visit. The Big Ben, the Tower Bridge over the river Thames, the International London Heathrow Airport, the Westminster Abbey, the National Gallery of Art and many others.

There are about 64 million people living in Great Britain, most of them are English, Irish and Scottish. They all have special traditions for celebrating holidays and cook special food for festivals. All the members of families take part in these events. People in Great Britain are polite and kind.

​Many famous people were born and lived in Great Britain. One of them is William Shakespeare, who wrote tragedies "Romeo and Juliet", "Hamlet", "Macbeth" and other plays. William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and lived in Stratford-on-Avon with his wife and children. Shakespeare died in 1616.

Great Britain is the state of the future. I dream of going to London and seeing the most wonderful sights of the capital of the United Kingdom and I hope it will come true one day.

I am going to tell you about Los Angeles. Los Angeles spans a widely diverse geographic area. Primarily a desert basin, the area is surrounded by the San Gabriel Mountain range and divided by the Santa Monica Mountains. Los Angeles County has 81 miles of coastline. There are such rivers as the Los Angeles, the Rio Hondo, the San Gabriel and the Ventura rivers.

The climate of Los Angeles as the climate of Southern California has often been described as «perfect» and with good reason. Mostly it is sunny and warm with gentle ocean breezes in the summer. The humidity is low with little rain. In fact, there are no unpleasant seasons in Los Angeles.

The name Los Angeles is Spanish for the Angels. In the late 18th century, Felipe de Neve, Spanish Governor of California, saw the need to establish a settlement along the River Los Angeles, The primary purpose for the pueblo was to reaffirm Spain's claim over the territory in the face of encroachments by Russia in the north and Britain from the sea.

The settlement would also help to keep Spain's California military garrisons supplied and fed. Los Angeles was officially established by Governor Felipe de Neve on September 4,1781.

Governor de Neve's statue stands today at the Plaza of Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles. Later, when Mexico became an independent state, California with Los Angeles was governed by Mexicans.

In August of 1846, American soldiers entered Los Angeles and the Stars and Stripes flag has flown over the city since January 1847. In 1851 the first Los Angeles City police force was organized.

Nowadays the city of Los Angeles holds many distinctions. Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, a cultural centre which has more than 300 museums and a paradise of good weather.

It is the only city in the world to host the Summer Olympics twice. Downtown of Los Angeles is the largest government centre outside of Washington, D.C.

Los Angeles has the only remaining wooden lighthouse in the world. It is located in Fermin Park in San Pedro. Los Angeles has the largest historical theatre district, located in Downtown on Broadway.

Los Angeles is on the leading edge of the growth industries. The Los Angeles area * Digital Coast» has more multimedia jobs than Silicon Valley and New York City combined. The Los Angeles metropolitan area, with more than 122,000 jobs in the fashion industry, has surpassed New York's fashion district work force.

The population of Los Angeles is about four million people. Los Angeles ranks as the second largest city in the nation behind New York City, In Los Angeles there are people from about 140 countries^speaking approximately 86 different languages and currently call Los Angeles home.
