Степени сравнения прилагательных

Сравнительная степень односложных и

двусложных прилагательных образуется

с помощью суффикса -er , превосходная - est :

strong er

При сравнении степени качества одного предмета со степенью качества другого

употребляется союз than (чем)

The blue ball is smaller than

the green ball.

В односложных прилагательных согласная удваивается после кратких гласных:

bi g - bi gg er - (the) bi gg est

ho t - ho tt er - (the) ho tt est

Буква y на конце прилагательных

после согласных меняется на i :

happ y - happ i er - the happ i est

funn y - funn i er - the funn i est

Непроизносимая немая "е" опускается и

прибавляется -er или - est:

nic e - nic e r - (the) nic e st

К прилагательным, состоящим из трёх и более

слогов, прибавляются в сравнительной

степени more и в превосходной степени the most
