Starbucks Corporation is an American coffee company and coffeehouse chain. In 1971, English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Sigle and writer Gordon Bowker formed $ 1,350, borrowed another 5,000 and opened a coffee bean shop in Seattle, Washington. The store was named after the character of the novel by Herman Melville "Moby dick" — the first assistant to captain Ahab; the logo-a stylized image of the siren.
The right selection of varieties and roasting coffee beans partners learned from Alfred Pete, the owner of the company Peet's Coffee. Starbucks bought grain in Peet's Coffee for the first 9 months of work, and then the partners have established their own roaster and opened a second store. By 1981, there were 5 shops, a small coffee roasting factory and a trading division that supplied coffee beans to bars, cafes and restaurants. In 1979, the owners of Starbucks bought Peet's Coffee.
