Доклад на тему "Формирование социокультурной компетентности на уроках английского языка"

Формирование и развитие социокультурной компетенции.

В учебниках «Spotlight» авторами разработан целый комплекс заданий и упражнений, направленных на формирование и развитие социокультурной компетенции. Этот комплекс заданий и упражнений учителя нашего школьного методического объединения используют в своей работе при:

- составлении диалогов и монологических высказываний на основе изученного материала (What is the dialogue about? Complete the dialogue…..; Use the table to act out short exchanges for the following situations…;Make up sentences about yourself using the idioms…; Tell the class what you have to do to make apple muffins…);

- составлении прогноза погоды (Make a chart showing the weather in various cities in our country for tomorrow…);

- составлении списка покупок (Think of your favourite dish. What do you need to make it?);

- написании статьи, рецепта в газету или журнал (Think of a famous person from our country. Write his/her biography for the school magazine.);

- выполнении упражнений на объяснение значения слов, выделенных жирным шрифтом (Explain the words in bold);

- выполнении заданий на сопоставление реалий страны изучаемого языка с её описанием (Listen and check. What flag does the text describe? Listen and mark the statements –true, false, not stated);

- выполнении заданий на подбор подходящего заголовка к каждому абзацу (Read again and give each paragraph a title…);

- выполнении упражнений на сравнение особенности культуры англоязычных стран, указанные в тексте, и своей страны (What is the most popular board game in your country?);

- обсуждении прочитанного в классе (What place would you choose to eat out in the UK?);

- выполнении логических упражнений на прогнозирование содержания текста (Look at the title, subheadings and the pictures. What do you expect to read about? How do you think British teenagers spend their free time? / Who is this woman in the picture? What do you know about her?);

- выполнении упражнений на установление звуковых ассоциаций (Listen to the music. What country do you think it is from? Listen to the music. Where are you? What are the people doing around you?).

В каждый модуль авторы включили рубрику «Project» и «Writing», которые направлены на формирование и развитие социокультурных знаний учащихся при обучении как устной, так и письменной речи. Так, например, в рубрике «Project» (8 кл.) на основе изученного материала учитель Погребняк А.М. предлагает учащимся:

- составить путеводитель по своему городу ( Collect information then write a tourist guide section about a famous street in our city…)

- написать газетную статью ( Write a short paragraph about a traditional costume in our country…).

В секции «Writing» (8 кл.) учитель предлагает выполнить задания следующего типа: Imagine you spent three weeks at your English penfriends` house. Write a letter to the family thanking them for their hospitality.

Используя материалы аудиокурса к учебникам линейки «Spotlight» учащиеся знакомятся с англоязычными песнями. Так, например, «Song Sheets» содержат такие песни как «Family», «Hot Wheels», «Perfect Day», «The Weekend» (6 кл), «Life is a miracle», «Who you are», «Rain and Shine», «The world is our Oyster»(8 кл.). Все песни соответствуют тематике модулей и применяются для ознакомления учащихся с элементами музыкальной культуры англоязычных стран и их обычаев, а так же для повышения мотивации школьников к изучению английского языка, что также очень важно.

В своей работе учитель Погребняк А.М., при изучении темы «Lifestyles» (7 кл.), в разделе Culture Corner 1 «Landmarks of the British Isles» знакомит учащихся с достопримечательностями Британских островов. Учитель просит найти и показать столицы каждой страны, найти информацию о самом необычном факте, связанным с какой-либо достопримечательностью, просит составить рассказ об одной из них на основе услышанного и прочитанного материала.

Look at the title of the text. What are we going to speak about? Look at the map. What do you know about these countries? Where are they situated? What countries form the UK? What is the capital of each country? What is the capital of the UK? What landmarks of the British Isles do you know?

Malahide Castle is north-east of Dublin city, Ireland. It dates back to the 12^th century. It is in the middle of the large park and was used as both a fortress and a family home. It is a spooky place because people often see ghosts there.

Edinburgh Castle is Scotland`s most famous castle. It is very popular with tourists and around 1 million people visit it every year. It is a very unique castle as it was built on top of an extinct volcano.

Conwy Castle in Gwynedd, Wales, is a classical 13^th century fortress. It is a masterpiece of medieval architecture that took seven years to build. It has eight big towers that offer great views of the nearby river and the Snowdonian Mountains.

- Think of a question to ask your classmates about each landmark. Read the texts and ask questions. Ask questions and find out the answers with your classmates.

- Tell your classmates about one castle you like.

For example: The Tower of London.

The Tower of London is situated on the banks of the river Thames. Yeoman Warders or “Beefeaters” guard the Tower. Eight big black ravens live in the Tower. There is a legend that says that if they fly away, the Tower will fall down.

Домашним заданием учащимся может быть предложена подготовка презентации об одной из достопримечательностей нашего города.

При изучении темы «Be Yourself» (8 класс) в разделе Culture Corner 4 учитель знакомит с традиционными костюмами Британских островов, особенностями рисунков, расцветок, украшений, цветовой гаммой, характерной для каждой страны, входящей в состав Великобритании.

Irish traditional costume make you think of Irish folk dancing. Female dancers wear a long-sleeved dress, knee-high white socks and black shoes. The colourful patterns on the dresses are based on Celtic designs.

Scottish kilt with its distinctive tartan pattern is probably the best known traditional costume in the UK. Kilts were pleated woollen skirt, worn only by men, and fastened in front with a special pin. A goatskin bag called a sporran was worn around the waist and a cloak was draped over one shoulder. Each clan or family had its own tartan design. The kilt is still worn on special occasions today.

What everyone recognizes about the Welsh costume is its tall black hat or “beaver hat”, worn over a lace cap. Women in the past wore it with a long full skirt and a white apron. A shawl, usually red, was worn around the shoulders. The outfit was complete with black shoes and stockings.

Morris dancing with its traditional costumes is a familiar sight in England. These dances are performed outdoors in country villages during the summer. The dancers wear white trousers, a loose white shirt and a pad of bells around the bottom half of the leg. Their hats are decorated with ribbons and flowers, and they wave handkerchiefs in the air as they dance.

Чтобы проверить уровень усвоения материала, Погребняк А.М. использует следующие задания.

Read the texts and answer the questions. Use England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

1. Which costume has a special print on it?

2. Which costume is made of wool?

3. Which costume is famous for its special hat?

4. Which costume has got bells on it?

5. Which costume has a different design for each family?

Compare your answers with your partner. Then I ask pupils to describe one of the costumes.

The Scottish national costume.

The English national costume.

The Welsh costume.

The Irish costume.

Speaking about traditional costumes of the British Isles, we should remember that traditional Russian costume also has its history, special prints, colours, etc.

Your home task will be to collect information about a traditional Russian costume. Then write a short paragraph about it, illustrate it with drawings or pictures. Write:

1. What material it is made of.

2. What it consists of.

3. Its origins.

4. Where and when people wear it nowadays.
