Тема: «Достопримечательности Великобритании»

Цели:

• образовательная: содействовать формированию коммуникативной компетенции учащихся по предложенной теме;

• развивающая: создать благоприятную атмосферу для развития логического мышления учащихся, памяти, внимания, способности к общению, умений грамотно, четко и точно выражать свои мысли;

• воспитательная: способствовать формированию умения работать в паре и самостоятельно, положительной мотивации к изучению иностранного языка.

Сопутствующие задачи: совершенствовать навыки восприятия и понимания иноязычной речи на слух, чтения, монологической речи.

Оборудование: учебное пособие «Английский язык 11» Н.В.Юхнель, раздаточный материал, мобильное приложение LearningApps, видео «London Vacation Travel Guide», ПК.

Ход занятия:

I. Организационный этап

- Good afternoon! How are you? I’m glad to see you.

- Today we will continue to speak about Great Britain and learn new information about the most popular attractions.

1. It is the official residence of King Charles III. It is located near Green Park. There are 775 rooms where members of the Royal family and their servants live. There are also rooms for guests. Throughout the year right in front of this landmark the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard takes place, attracting a lot of tourists. (Buckingham Palace)

2. It is located in the center of London. In the center of the square there is Nelson’s column with four lions at the bottom of it. Some famous buildings, such as National Gallery and Admiralty Arch, are also located there. (Trafalgar Square)

3. It is a big park located in Central London. Today it is a popular place for meetings, celebrations and festivals. There is a gallery, a museum and several sculptures on its territory. (Hyde Park)

4. It is located at the highest point of the City of London. It was seriously damaged during the Great Fire of London. There are 3 Galleries and 17 bells. The largest bell is called Great Paul. The funerals of a lot of notable people have occurred here. (St. Paul’s Cathedral)

5. It is the one of the largest museums in the world. It was founded in the XVIII century. Its large collections of artifacts representing different cultures of the world, both ancient and modern. (The British Museum)

6. It is one of the largest Ferris wheels in Europe. Unforgettable views of the city open from its height of 135 meters. The wheel looks like a big bicycle wheel. (The London Eye)

7. It is the name of the Great bell of the clock at the Palace of Westminster. Nowadays this name mostly refers to the clock and the clock tower. The height of the tower is 96,3 meters. It is one of the most prominent symbols of the United Kingdom. (Big Ben)
