The head of the family is arrested, for which we will find out almost in the finale, but mom and three kids have to move to another house and get used to a very modest life. The events taking place in the book, speaking again in adult language, do not look very plausible. But sometimes you want to believe in miracles, kind people, good deeds and good intentions. The finale is wonderful, everyone is alive and well. The family is happy. The reader, that is, I am with them. I spent several wonderful evenings following this story, recharged with happiness, smiles and good deeds. I read the book Edith Nesbit - The railway children for a long period of time and solely according to my mood. I just immersed myself in the story and had fun. It's so great to plunge back into childhood, where there is childlike spontaneity and good intentions, where everything seems to be on the shoulder, and any trouble is minor misunderstandings. And, of course, in childhood there is a magical mother's love and endless tenderness! This book is worth reading for both children and adults, mothers for their children and children on their own. There are many adventures and funny cases in it, and, of course, there is a place for bravery on the pages of this book. It's quite difficult to judge the main characters and the minor ones, because it's more like a fairy tale. There are several children who seem to have got into a difficult life situation for them, but at the same time everything is pretty good. They found joy in each other and in others, they try to bring something good, which by the way turns out (sometimes even blindly), they also show by their example that you need to be able to forgive insults and try to fix everything. The book is written for educational purposes, but it is an idealized look at smart, well-mannered, prudent, too ideal children who have a lot of free time (they do not go to school) to gain life experience. Their mother is a creative person, a true lady - she either writes stories and poems, or writes letters. The children themselves do the laundry, cook, and prevent a train wreck, and also protect their mother from unnecessary shocks. The tone of the book, in my opinion, is too moralizing. There is no vivacity, dynamics, or spontaneity in the work. Probably because it was written in 1905, and in many ways it is "outdated". But as the creator of children's literature, children's fairy tales, E. Nesbit is a classic. |
