Эссе ученика 10 класса по теме: «Экология»

Only when all the rivers have run dry and all the fish in the sea have died;

Only when all the rainforests have been burnt down and there is no food for the animals;

Only when all the blue skies have been filled with smoke and the cities of the world have choked,

Will the white man understand that it’s too late to save the Earth.

Earth is our home and we should treat it with care. The living conditions in our city are getting worse and worse. People and different companies are making lakes and rivers too dirty for fish to live in or for people to swim in. Moreover, using different aerosols causes holes in the ozone layer. In addition to this, cars and factories are exhausting fumes and making so much smoke, that dirty air hides the sky and nearby things. It also makes hard for us to breathe and can cause illnesses and even death. What is more, businessmen don’t think what they do, because most of them are very greedy and tough. As a result, there are a lot of logging companies which cut down different trees in our parks or forest reservation areas only to make space for more buildings and shops. Finally, rubbish in the city and landfills on the outskirts are big problems too.

However there are different ways to solve these problems. There is much we can do ourselves and make the government take urgent measures.

Firstly, the authorities should put rubbish bins on every street corner, so that people don’t have to drop litter everywhere. But we should also learn not to throw rubbish all around. We all know the rule ‘not to litter’ and not everyone does that. Furthermore, there is no need to throw away things we do not need any more. We can process them into something useful. If we cut down trees or even pick up flowers we must plant other trees and flowers there or near our houses. Consequently, there would be enough oxygen for us to breathe. Moreover, we should influence the government to make them force factories to buy new effective filters for their pipes. In this way the air will become cleaner. But the main target is to make people understand that the nature is dying and the causes of this trouble are people. If people realize this they won’t do so much harm to the environment.

Claude Levis-Strauss said: ‘The world began without man and it will complete itself without him”. These are very wise words and we should all remember them. It is up to us to decide if we want to live in healthy places or gradually die out.
