Introduction

There are many reasons for everybody to praise our motherland.

At first, it is our birthplace. We are a small part of our motherland. We are born here in Eravna. We must honor and remember our native place. So they say “East or West, home is best.”

At second, it is our history. We mustn't forget our ancestors, our roots. We must study the historical events and be proud of them. Our history is so interesting and exciting.

At third, it is our life. We live and try to understand our role in this life. Why do we live here, what do we stay after us in this life? Perhaps, there are many causes here. We are proud of our countrymen which could immortalize their love to Eravna. We read, recite and admire their poems, works.

The work stresses the necessity to study the history, geography of our rayon.

The goal of this investigation is stimulated by high interest to studying and interpreting of our roots.

The actuality is determined by to know history of native place in modern conditions, in time of globalization.

The work consists of introduction, four paragraphs and conclusion.

1.”There is no place like home”

There is on the Earth my favourite place, which was called “place of blue lakes”- Eravna. The origin of name “Eravna” goes with its roots in the past. From Mongolian this word means “fine, beautiful”. Perhaps, the Mongols had named our rayon “Yaruu Nairag”, when they were admired of beauties of our nature.

Eravna, which begins from the Yablonov's mountains in the east and lasts till the Uda river in the west, admires everybody with its very large area with lakes, picturesque mountains.

Of course, our proud are our blue lakes. They are all fine and various. These are: Lakes Bolshaya and Malaya Eravna, Sosnovoye, Khamisan, Gunda, Isinga and others. The greatest lake is Lake Bolshaya Eravna (946hectars, its depth is 6, 0 meters).All of these lakes are rich in fish, except small forest lakes. Mostly of them are inhabited by fishes: perch, pike, crycian, bream, and carp.

Bream, sazan are breed here.

Eravna is very beautiful with its many landscapes: fast mountainous rivers, long steppe rivers, endless steppes, rich Siberian forests, unforgettable meadows. The longest rivers are the Uda and the the Konda. The Uda with its tributaries gather waters from the area of rayon and flows into the Selenga. As you know, the world-famous Lake Baikal is fed by a number of large and small rivers; naturally they have a direct influence on Baikal life.

Eravna is abundant in different mineral waters, deposits of medical muds; the medical influence of them is very useful for people. Every of these arshans is unique in their value. The most famous of them are the Mokhei, the Marakta, the Khuretei, the Daban-Gorkhon, the Uta-Nur, the Arshanta.

Place, where I live, has many wonderful places, unique natural wonders. In place Big Eravna there are many beautiful places of rest- the Krasnaya Gorka, the Tcheremoshnik, the Bayan Khan. According to legend, our lake Big Eravna has a female origin and was called Yaruna - Khatan. Like every women, female character is typical for her. She can be kind and wise, so evil and indomitable. But she is always beautiful and majestic like her husband Bayan Khan.

2. My heart's in Eravna

With the wonderful water round your curled

And the wonderful wind is shaking the tree-

It walks on the water, and whirls the mills

And talks to itself on the top of the hills.

Eravna was praised of some famous poets. Their names are in hearts of every of us: Namzhil and Shirab Nimbuyev's, Tsyrenzhap Badmayev, Bato Tsyrendylykov and others. How beautiful poems are devoted of them to our Eravna. Founded in 2003, poetic garden of stone will be maybe a centre of cultural life of rayon.

The blue Uda gambols among mountains

On lush meadows graze herds of cows

And in flower dresses is the Earth

And this is my Eravna…

These poets, my countrymen had admired of beauties of Eravna and left a numerous poems, plays,works. As for me, I had read some of them. Especially I like poems of Namzhil Nimbuyev.

Оh, Eravna!

Secrets of your forests are inaccessible

In proud widen steppes and wood

Every stone and sheet

Is in spirit of the fatherland branded.

3. Facts of history

In Eravna are located many sacral places such as Egituisky datsan. You know, that this datsan was destroyed in 30-th years of twentieth centure by ateists and only after 1990 it was rebuilt and today here is concentrated spiritual life of Eravna. The world-famous statue of Zandan Zhuu gather many thousands pilgrims every year. So Zandan-Zhuu has arrived to us from India. It was in 1285. There are only two statues Zandan-Zhuu in the world. In Buryatia there is one of these statues. Zandan-Zhuu is in Egituiski dazan. Five meters a statue is constructed from a tree and is covered with gold.

Eravna… It is a place which was called “land of taiga, lakes, and steppe”. It is a land of eleven stocks of Khori - Buryats.

All history of Eravna is connected with historical events. Here left their memory the soldiers of great empire of Mongols. According the legend, Chingis – khan, their leader played chess with one of the shamans, where real men were instead of chess figures. Besides, there are many camps of Neolith time, tombstones of the Middle and Bronze Ages.

The majority of names in Eravna have Tungus origin: Tuldun, Gunda, Isinga, Telemba. There are Buryat names too: Uta - Nur, Shenekhete, Surkhaita…

Only on the banks of Lake Nokhony you can see rare birds of Buryatia - swans.

4. Eravna-wonderful place for rest.

How wonderful to have picnics in summer on our nature. Some people go to the lake beaches- they are the most favourite places of rest for tourists and fishermen. In summer there are many tent houses near our lakes. In some forest hunt houses you can find always salt, matches, firewood, which are left by precious visitors. It is one of ancient local tradition too.

There are conditions for extreme sports, tourism, and safari. We, local population, have a happy opportunity to have rest with pleasure, not to go far from the house, not to spend money, not to change sharp climate. All you know that it is very bad for health. Here are next to us beautiful lakes, mineral waters, inpregnable forests.
