Essay “A good teacher must have some gifts of a good actor”.

Qualities of a good teacher are often discussed by teachers who are striving to be a success in teaching and to develop professionally. There is a variety of ideas and opinions. One of them is that a good teacher should be an actor. Teaching as well as acting is a kind of some art. To prove it, let's consider some aspects and nuances of teaching not as a routine procedure, but as a kind of an art.

In order to bring all the necessary material to the audience a teacher must apply himself or herself and have a lot of energy for doing this. If you do not have an opportunity to think out a lesson, it won't be productive. An actor rehearses his performance and speech as well as a teacher does. And we shouldn't forget about the psychological factor which exists in both professions. When your lesson was successful, you feel satisfied with it as if you were on the top in front of the members of the audience who are grateful for resplendent performance. A teacher must find an approach to each student as well as an actor makes contact with the audience. More over a good teacher must involve everybody in the studying process. It is a matter of great importance to restrain their attention and a teacher can't do without some gifts of a good actor who makes children forget about studies and perceive them as an entertaining game. A teacher must be a clear speaker, with good, strong, pleasing voice which is fully under his control. And he must be able to act what he is teaching, in order to make its meaning clear. Watch a good teacher, and you will see that he doesn't sit motionless before his class: he stands the whole time he is teaching; he walks about, using his arms, hands and fingers to help him in his explanations, and his face to express feelings. Listen to him, and you will hear the loudness, the quality and the musical note of his voice always changing according to what he is talking about.

"The sage on the stage." That phrase has often been used to describe a teacher. Students expect their teachers to be all-knowing "sages" and proficient "actors" on the "stage." In fact, some people feel that a good teacher is born, not made. Teaching is considered to be a noble profession in which people opt for giving the sacrifice, commitment and dedication it needs. An ideal teacher is a good actor who can put life into any dull topic and students want to be in the class by choice and not by force. A good teacher is exacting but consistent. He has his feelings under control. So when he is in a bad temper he must not be rude to his pupils, when he is sad he must not show it to them. In other words he must act all the time to be a good teacher.
