Introduction

• The hockey is a famous kind of sport
• I have been playing hockey for 5 years, that’s why this item is closed to me.
• Today a lot of people are crazy about this kind of sport
• There are many different hockey clubs and fans in different countries.
• It’s common knowledge that Canada is the motherland of hockey
• My aim of the project is to analyse the role of hockey in Canada

• To focus on the most important international competitions

History of hockey in Canada

Hockey is the most popular sport in Canada

It was born in this land of ice and snow.

First players played without a puck, but with wooden ball. Each team included about 50 and more players which each hand. Players didn’t have skates, but they made their skates from shoes with the blade

The first official match was held in Montreal on Lake Victoria in 1875

The national hockey league was created in Montreal in 1917

It’s a complex in Winnipeg, that was opened in 2004. The capacity is about 15500 specters

After each goal fans wave of white scarves. It looks like an amazing moment.

It is multifunctional arena located in Vancouver.

It was built in 2014. This arena can accommodate up about 19000 spectators. It is also the main arena of winter Olympic games of 2010.

It is one of the biggest and the loudest arenas in the world. Its capacity is about 22000 spectators.

International competitions in Canada

The 2016 Cup

It was the most prestigious tournament in the world which was held in Toronto.

The Winner of the tournament was the national team of Canada for the second in its history.

The 2008 World Ice Hockey Championships

It was a memorable tournament for Russian fans because Russia won Canada on dramatic final and got gold medal.

The tournament took place in the Canadian city of Quebec.

• Hockey hall of Fame is located in the Canadian city of Toronto witch was opened in 1958.
• In the halls of the gallery there are stands with old hockey equipment, photos and drawings of matches.
• The hall of fame has the Stanley Cup.
• It contains of displays about players, coaches, staff and executive management of different countries.

The role of the ice hockey in Canada

• Ice hockey is a very popular kind of sport and is played year-round in Canada.
• A lot of people prefer to play this winter kind of sport
• The kind of this sport affects health of people
• It plays an important role in economy and entertainment of the country

Conclusion

• Canada provides facilities for playing hockey for people of all ages
• Hockey produces a profit to government, plays an important role in national politic
• There are many social projects that are interested in hockey
• This kind of sport is good for health of Canadians
