Few people know that some British took their place in the history of Moscow. There were architects, travelers, scientists, builders and others. The history of relations between Russia and Britain dates back to several centuries. At the present time understanding between two countries does not always exist, but in the foundation and construction of Moscow, we were in a normal relationship. Ironically, the streets of London also have Russians names, though in smaller quantities.

Foundation of Moscow
Moscow was founded by Yury Dolgoruky. We do not know anything about his mother. Perhaps she was the second wife of Vladimir Monomakh - Princess Gytha of Wessex. Thus, the founder of Moscow can be half the British.
Old English Court
The British wanted to swim to China and Persia by the Northern Seas. But they reached the city of Severodvinsk, where they were joyfully greeted by Pomors. In autumn in 1553 the British trade delegation was brought to Moscow.The Office of The British merchants was placed in the house in Zaryade.
Spasskaya and Vodovzvodnaya tower
The work on the superstructure of the tower was done by Bazhen Ogurtsov and the Scottish master Christopher Galloway.
These chimes were arranged quite differently: the dial rotates, not the arrow. Then Halovit designed Vodovzvodnaya Tower for diversion of water from the Moscow River.
“ Vauxhall”
Thanks to Michael Maddox the first "Vauxhall" - amusement park –appeared in Moscow . Vauxhall worked from May to September. The word "Vauxhall" entered the Russian language in the first half of the XIX century and refered to any park with restaurants and festivals.
Petrovsky Theatre
In 1780 Madox built a stone Petrovsky Theatre close to the river Neglinaya . The theater had four tiers with lodges and two spacious galleries.
Luxuriously decorated the boxes cost from three hundred to one thousand rubles
and more. A ticket to the ground cost was one ruble.
The Anglican Church in Moscow е
The Church of St. Andrew was built by the British architect Richard Neal Freeman Victorian Gothic. Anglicanism was spread in Moscow more than 400 years ago.
Now the church hosts charity and free classical music concerts, and every year the charity fair Moscow Village Fete takes place every year.
Modern British Embassy
One of the British modern buildings in Moscow is the complex of the British Embassy on the Smolenskaya embankment. The project was completed by the leading British architectural firm "Ahrends, Burton and Koralek" in 2000. The base of the architectural solution of this building is a combination of the traditional materials of two countries - wood and stone.
Yuri Gagarin & Saint Vladimir Monuments
In 2013 in Greenwich, area of London, was built a monument to Yuri Gagarin, the first cosmonaut of the planet. The monument was a gift to Great Britain from the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos) in July 2011, when we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the visit of Yuri Gagarin to Britain.
Approximately in 1988 there was built a monument to the Prince of Novgorod, Saint Vladimir (in 969-977 years). In 978-1015 years he was Grand Prince of Kiev.
Peter I Monument
Monument to Peter I in Deptford was built in 2001 by Mikhail Shemyakin on the site of the house where he lived in 1698. In England, Peter I studied shipbuilding. Bronze tsar's eyes are looking at the river, where he sees the alluring ocean. The memory of him still lives in the UK. A small street in Deptford is called Tasar Street.
