Eton College
Eton College is a unique school located in Berkshire, England. Some of the most eminent British actors, nobilities, politicians and celebrities have been educated in Eton College. It is worth noting that at least eleven British prime ministers were raised in Eton.
Eton College was founded in the XV century by King Henry VI, at first to provide free education to a group of boys that would later become students at the University of Cambridge, founded in 1441.
The institution charges approximately 44094 pounds sterling monthly, which is almost four million rubles. While some may argue that the kind of education that is received within Eton is worth the price, we ourselves, here at 1511, see that similar heights can be achieved without paying so much, although that does not by any means mean that our respective degrees of education are tantamount to each other or that ours is superior: quite the contrary, it’s more likely that Eton could be a generally better school than ours in all its aspects, but that is a story for another time.
The boarding school has a variety of art and sports features, such as annual cricket matches against a similar school, Harrow School, their own theater, several musical halls and eight organs. Multiple plays can be enacted in their theater (the Farrer theater) every year.
I’ve found that Eton staff employ an unconventional system of incentives and sanctions unlike any other. For instance, misconduct by children was sometimes sanctioned by having them copy Latin hexameters by hand, and, in more severe and rare cases, Virgil’s Georgics.
Eton College can be characterized as an exclusive facility (in spite of being a “public school” de jure) dedicated to raise future representatives of the upper classes. As such, it offers high quality education, excellent discipline and perfect conditions for students without spoiling them, though at a price. Eton College is known as the unparalleled, number-one school in Great Britain, and possibly Western Europe entirely. A local counterpart to Eton could perhaps be the International Lenin School in Moscow.
All in all, we can thus conclude that the Eton School is an outstanding school with nearly unmatched quality of teaching and ideal conditions for the students themselves, the only downsides to it being its exorbinance and class-exclusiveness.
Thank you.
