«Kamchatka's biodiversity is of global status (Глобальное значение биоразнообразия Камчатки)»
System of protected nature territories as answer to threats.
Kamchatka is a vast area with
relatively small permanent population
Two thirds of this population
are concentrated in Petropavlovsk agglomeration
Results of anthropogenic impact are typical for towns.
They are pollution of air and water, degradation of soils, concentration of industrial waste
Kamchatka is rich in mineral resources:
gold, gas, oil, coal, copper and other
Geological activities were rather damaging to the environment.
Many roads were constructed destroying tundra, rivers and spawning grounds
Sometimes fuel was spilt over the ground.
Timber cutting was also very extensive, because animals habitats were destroyed, rivers and streams got polluted
Every year the problems of environment conservation are becoming more and more actual
Another threat to the nature is poaching and overfishing.
Nature of kamchatka is unique,
and we must save it
