  1. Alan Alexander Milne was born in 1882.

  2. His father was the headmaster of a small preparatory school.

  3. At the age of 11, Alan went to Cambridge to become a mathematician.

  4. Instead, he became a writer.

  5. At the beginning, he published light humorous poems, some witty works and humorous essays.

  6. In 1913, he married Dorothy de Selincourt.

  7. In 1920, Mrs. Milne presented her husband with an adorable son, Christopher Robin.

  8. For his first birthday, they bought him a teddy bear Winnie.

  9. In 1925, they bought a farm, where Christopher Robin and his bear used to play in the nearest forest.

  10. Their adventures gave A.A. Milne a lot of material for his famous book “Winnie-the-Pooh” which was published in 1926.

  11. A.A. Milne’s secret of success was that he could get inside the mind of a child.

  12. He wrote many other popular children books and poems, which are still popular.

  13. Christopher Milne spent 6 years in the army and then ran a bookshop until he retired.

  14. The toy bear and other toys were “evacuated” to America during the war.
