After War he wanted to retire and live in his house on Mount Vernon.
But George remembered about his duty to serve the country.
On April 30, 1789 he became the first President of the US and served for 2 terms.
He promised to preserve, protect, and defend the US Constitution.
He refused to serve the third term and retired to Mount Vernon.
